Baltimore

I've never been there because I'm lame. BUT H and I are going there in October for a wedding and I thought I'd turn it into a long-ish weekend for the two of us. My mom is keeping TMoney for the weekend so I booked a hotel for Saturday night. Saturday will be taken up by the wedding but does anyone have any suggestions on what we should do Sunday during the day? Any good brunch places that we should check out?

Re: Baltimore

  • What neighborhood is the hotel in?
  • Brittany went there last year for her anniversary. almost the same question was just asked on the GP board yesterday - http://forums.thenest.com/discussion/12000858/anyone-from-baltimore-area#latest

  • Brunch - porter'smpub in federal hill http://www.portersfederalhill.com/. Then go check out the American Visionary Arts museum.

This is the name of the hotel: Baltimore Marriott Waterfront. I know nothing about Baltimore. I booked that hotel because it's the hotel that the bride blocked rooms off in.

  • Actually Ryan took me there for my Christmas present.  We took public transit to a free art museum and saw Lion King.

I don't have any specific restaurant recs but you could literally spend all day at the inner harbor just walking around, exploring, shopping and there are a tons of places to eat there.

  • We go for day trips and just walk around the inner harobor.  There's a good sub shop at the inner harbor called like potbelly or something.  I love the aquarium, but it's $$.  We also had fun at Dick's Last Resort bar that's outside.  Philip's is really good too, again $$, but mmmmm SEAFOOD!  I think they had an outdoor section you can pick crabs in.

  • That's pretty close to the Inner Harbor, so I would probably stick to that area.  But if you can manage, I would strongly recommend checking out http://dangerouspiesbalt.com/.  It's in Canton, so not really close to where you'll be, but super yummy!
  • I'm going to be a negative nelly. Don't eat in the Inner Harbor, it's like eating in Times Square in NYC. Potbelly, is yummy, but it's a DC area chain, you can eat there anytime. Woodberry Kitchen is in Baltimore, but no where near you. The chef was up for a James Beard award, we've been there, it's NOT to be missed.
Sorry, DH is from Baltimore and a good portion of his family lives there, so I'm a little snooty. We go a couple of times a year.
