NBR: Inspiration comes from the strangest places

I've been kicking around a problem at work for a couple weeks now.  How do we keep lookie-loos from climbing in a vintage automobile whose door is open?  So many ideas, none that worked, until I thought about this:

Motion sensing alarm!!!  Point it at the seat, and it will go off if someone tries to get in the car.

I feel supa smaht.

  • Oh man. I'd get in anyway. Gun it to 88 and waa laaa. No museum guards are going to be after me in 1845, which is totally where I'm going. (Oregon Trail, here I come!)

  • You guys have the coolest cars. You have an EV1, right? Roanoke is too far for a quick visit.

    This!  A rope doesn't work?
  • Yes, I am in Roanoke, and no, ropes don't always work.  People are asshats.  You would not believe the number of people who let their kids tear around and act like monkeys.  Weekend before last we found someone in his late teens climbing on the very TOP of the J 611 locomotive.  And a movie car...fuhgeddaboutit.  They think they can be part of it.  It's ridiculous.  I can't tell you the times that people have climbed over chains, signs, boosted themselves 2-3 feet off the ground, just to get on something that they're not supposed to.

Yes, we have an EV1.  It's my favorite of the newer cars.  :)
