  Ew! Has he gone to a podiatrist? If it's that bad, he might have a foot fungus of some kind. If he tries a new pair of shoes and the smell comes over to that shoe, he should probably see a foot specialist.

  He manages a Waffle House and is on his feet for at least 8 hours a day.

  He should change his socks 1-2 times per day. Have you tried putting baking soda in the shoes?

  Also, feet that stinky might need to be checked by a doc. Bacteria can cause some pretty bad stench.

  They have foot powders that keep feet dry, and absorb odors.  He can sprinkle the powder in his shoes after he gets home to help absorb odor and moisture (dump the powder the next morning), and well as sprinkling the powder on his feet before he puts on socks.  If his feet get so sweaty, it might be beneficial (foot health-wise, not just to keep them from stinking) to have him change his socks once at work, and apply more powder to help keep them dry.  I think the powder my husband uses is called odor eaters, but I could be wrong.  There are a few different brands available, I'm sure.  If he tries it, I hope it helps!  If not, having his feet in sweaty socks all day might actually be causing health problems for his feet that need to be addressed by a doctor.

  Can you try sprinkling some baking soda with some essential oil in his shoes when he gets home? That might help, along with him change socks fairly frequently, like PPs have suggested. Also, maybe he could take his shoes off in the garage or leave them outside someplace where you wouldn't have to smell them? Good luck!

  You can try a new pair of shoes and have him wear anti microbial socks (they're at most stores) and powder or anti microbial inserts. He will need to replace his shoes pretty regularly. Once they smell, you can't get it out. The bacteria are already living it up in there. Good luck!

  I agree with other posters about changing socks a few times a day!
  
  But you mentioned that his feet still smell even after he showers -- so it could be a foot problem... I used to dance ballet and my feet used to smell and I went to a podiatrist who gave me some powder (i forget what it was) to put into my shoes and before I knew it my foot stench went away for good. It's nothing to be a shamed of -- it happens fairly often to folks. Wouldn't hurt to try what other posters are suggesting and if it doesn't work I would recommend what I did which was to see a foot specialist!

  He should have at least two pairs of shoes that he rotates between.  Shoes can take up to 24+ hours to fully dry after wearing them.  Also, newspaper acts as an odor absorbent. He could try putting a sheet or two in his shoes after he takes them off at night.
