Re: Confession Thursday

  • TTC is stressing us out!

We went to dinner at East Side Mario's last night. The waitress was just awful and H was feeling vindictive so he stole a beer mug and we left her tip in quarters.

I confess that owning a house has been completely overwhelming.  The amount of money that we have spent since we bought the house is crazy.  I mean I know that a house is always a project but I didn't think that it was going to be this much of a project already.  I do have to look at the bright side of it...the other house that we were going to buy needed a kitchen and a back porch whereas this one didn't.

I also don't understand how we fit so much into a one bedroom apartment but can't seem to find space in a 3 bedroom house...

I confess that I'm ready for a vacation. I need a little time away from work and the stress of H's family situation. I wish we could just run off to the beach for a week or two.

The first month in your house is the worst!  It feels like all you do is spend money.  Things like closet racks, landscaping and little things are so much more expensive than you think.  Our furnace and AC went out the first year, but the sellers paid for a 1 year warrant, all we had to pay was a deductable.  I promise you it will get better.  But, it does seem never ending.  There is always something to fix/upgrade.  Good luck!
  • I confess to being a total pig today.  It's a cws last day and there are really delicious cookies, I can't stop eating them!
  • I ate over half of a Freschetta Brick Oven Crust Pizza for lunch.

I'm eating for 2, so it's all good, right?

  • Cathy having a house is awesome and sucky all at the same time! There is always something to do! But right after moving in does have a ton of costs!! Good luck!

My confessions: I'm envious that my husband is taking next wk off between jobs but bummed his trip means I have dog duty the whole time.

We are to the point that we aren't not trying (so technically ttc) but I'm so ready. It feels like forever away! I don't know how women can do it when they have fertility problems. My heart aches for them....just a month seems like an eternity!

  • I just switched offices and I thought I was going to be doing something new and different but I can't seem to get away from the one thing I hate doing most. Ugh. So far I don't think I will have to do it again but they are pushing that I will have to at some point. Which I told them I didn't want the job if it was involved and they promised it wasn't but then again it doesn't help any when your boss is on leave your first week and your co-workers aren't sure exactly what your suppose to do. Didn't I just go through this with my last assignment? Ugh.

  • While I'm enjoying my kids (they're really sweet!!), they're definitely driving me crazy. The 2nd grade as a whole (all 4 classes!) are driving us all bonkers because they DON'T. SHUT. UP. The other thing I'm having trouble dealing with as a new teacher is how frustrating it is when the kids don't understand something that seems so simple to me. It'll get better, I hope, but right now I'm stressed and frustrated and already feel behind and we've only been in school a week.

  • Seipel, send some of those cookies over to me!!  Julie, eating just pizza crust sounds like something I would do too.  So tasty!!

Cathy, I am sorry that your house is costing more than expected now, but in a month or two you'll be settled and things will balance out.

Jenn, don't get frustrated, your feelings are all normal and part of learning.  You're going to be great! I am going into my 9th year and I still get frustrated when they don't understand something that I think is simple.  It's totally normal.  And for the talking, it will get better, just be consistent with how you handle it.  They are just coming off vacation and probably haven't seen many of their classmates since the end of school.  They have a lot of catching up to do.  Some years they are really chatty and some years they don't make a peep.  Let me know if you need any help!
  • Thanks, sjs!! You've been an awesome help the past month or so :) I don't know if I ever emailed you back that last time to say thanks!! I'm trying to keep these things in mind, but it's hard being new. I am the only one who has been cracking down on my management system and moving clips since day one, so I feel like the b**** teacher when we go out for recess and I have between 3-8 kids on the fence for any given time period :-/

  • I'm happy I can help, Jen!  Don't feel bad about keep kids out of recess.  You have to be consistent.  Keeping a few kids in now will pay off in a month.  I am one of the only teachers at my school to keep kids in the first few days but I have less kids in later in the year.  Stay strong!
