The Sea of Tranquility (SP)

I might as well get it out there - I only gave this book 3 stars!

I like lots of action and this book didn't have that.  Sorry girls that I didn't love it more.  Please don't disown me!  But let's talk..

(view spoiler)
What I didn’t like:

I know I should have felt sorry for Nastya but at some points I got annoyed by her and felt like she had this “oh woe is me” attitude. I’m not sure why I felt that way but it got on my nerves.

What happened to Nastya was so drawn out that by the time the entire story came out, I barely even cared. I had made up a million different scenarios in my head by that point.

When Nastya finally decides to start talking to Josh, there is no explanation from her point of view. The book just continues like it was normal for her to talk when it obviously wasn’t.

What I did like:

I loved that Nastya’s real name was Emilia. That’s my daughter’s middle name and you hardly see it spelled that way. Silly, but it made me smile.

Drew. His character should really make you dislike him but somehow, you want him as your friend. Drew really matured throughout the book. Go Drew.

Nastya and Drew’s relationship. I loved their “love” for each other without them having to be dating.

Re: The Sea of Tranquility (SP)

  • I totally agree about how the mystery of what happened to her was so drawn out that by the time you finally got the story, it wasn't anywhere near as horrible as you had pictured in your mind. Not that it wasn't bad, but just not as bad as all the suspense led you to think.

There were things I liked about this book, but honestly, I think there were a lot more things I didn't like... :( Oh well..

  • I absolutely loved this book. I am far more stimulated by an emotional journey than a physical one though. I feel like the dialogue and character development were purposely drawn out to show you how Nastya was healing. It's one of the most beautiful stories I've read.

So I guess I'll love it enough for the both of us. :)

This is why I should stay away from books that everyone loves.  This is not the first time this has happened.

  • I thought the same thing about the internal dialogue being missing when she finally started talking to him - UNTIL the very last line of the book.

    ::pauses to break down again::

So eventually, we do find out EXACTLY why she decides to start talking to him.
