Re: FFQ Monday

  • Hiccups. How often did your baby get the hiccups while still inside? I need to stop googling but I read 2 way different things. First was that it's a really good sign and that your baby is getting ready for breathing on the outside. Then I also read that it can be a sign that baby is in distress, possible cord compression or knot. Enter anxiety and panic....

I will be asking my doctor on Friday but just looking for others opinions.

My little guy gets the hiccups 2-3 times a day at least. What did you notice with your babies and hiccups?

  • I never noticed hiccups. I think I was a bad mom who never noticed anything from my baby in utero. I don't think Ibe screwed him up too badly, yet, at least. My sister's kid had hiccups all the time before he was born.

  • M got hiccups daily inside and now gets them about once a week or so. Nothing to worry about.

  • Good to hear! Sometimes google can be so helpful. Other times it's horrible.

    Thanks for the reassurance ladies!!!

@carcrashheart - the more people I talk to the more I hear how much they loved and miss the hiccups! I am going to start embracing little things like this instead of worrying. Most times it's easier said than done.

What is that saying....Worrying is only praying for what you don't want to happen.  Here's to embracing. : )

    Thanks again ladies!

  • Ok...I have another one...

Is it weird that I haven't felt any Braxton Hicks or contractions? I will be 33 weeks Thursday. And what exactly do they feel like? I know people say a tightening of the belly and no pain. Maybe I have had some but just haven't noticed them...

Every once in awhile if I get up quickly or have a quick movement, I will feel a tight pull. It's usually on the side and goes away shortly after moving. I am pretty sure that is RLP. And also happens more often when I have a full bladder.

  • i never had any BH's, i don't think everyone gets them.

and yes, it is hard to not worry but that was one of the things that i loved rather than worried about. it never occured to me to google it, so i guess that was helpful to me. at this stage of the game i would try to embrace everything that you can because believe it or not you will miss at least some of these things when it's over. :)

  • @kanels11 - I've noticed hiccups maybe a handful of times so far.

@PinkinProvence - I didn't think I'd like the Snoogle, but my best friend insisted I borrow hers and now I can't sleep without it. I make sure to put my pillow over the part you're supposed to put your head on, because that was just not comfortable by itself. I was using a regular body pillow, but the bigger I got, the less comfortable I was. People either really like it, or they don't.

  • @kanels11 - I've also just had BH a few times, and they always pop up when I've been really active and not drinking a lot of water. Once I sit down and have something to drink, they go away. And, ditto madeline, my stomach just felt really tight for 30 seconds- a minute, and was generally just tight in one section of my stomach.

  • I got a few random BHs throughout my pregnancy, but towards the end I got them a lot (like after 36 weeks).  Not everyone gets them.

  • @kanels11 B got the hiccups at least once a day.  It was SOOOO annoying.  I mean, yes, I was grateful for them, but they were incredibly annoying.

  • @pinkinprovence I just used a body pillow. Itwas really helpful towards the end because it would support and hold my belly up when ilaid on my side. It hurt without sonething supporting it. Also, after I had her for at least a week, maybe two, I had to sleep with my body pillow under my belly still because all the extra belly would hang down and hurt really bad.

  • I love my snoogle. This time I can't sleep on my right side as much and I've had to play around with it to get it comfortable. I also use my regular pillows under it by my head.

  • I never felt a BH or any kind of contractions until after my water broke. I don't think that's the norm but it isn't bad. Just consider yourself lucky!

  • I had it but didn't like it. I would flip from side to side too much and having to rotate the pillow just didn't work for me. I have heard a lot of people rave about it though. For the next pregnancy I will just be getting a body pillow.

Initially I was just so-so on it. I like it a lot more now though; it really helps with the hip pain I was having.

yup. at least once, often twice. he gets them as an outside baby. OB told me it is a good sign. he seems healthy, so I think she was right.
