But my first RE appointment is tomorrow morning. Any advice?

Poll question: Did DH go with you to your first appointment? (mine isn't, but keeps asking if he should)

Re: I know it's not Wednesday...

• H didn't. It was just a conversation... There was no need for him to be there.
IUI - BFP! Baby boy born still - August 2012
IVF - BFP - miscarriage June 2013
FET - BFN
FET - BFN

IVF with PGD - three embryos created, all healthy - July 2014
FET - transferred two embryos (boy and girl) - Nov 2014 - BFP!
Baby Boy born July 2015

• He went as support for me and to answer the questions about his medical history.

Would it have been fine without him? Yes. But it was nice that he heard everything straight from the doctors mouth.

• DH did not go to the first appointment. I am glad he didn't because it would have been a waste. Basically, the RE just spoke in general about what could cause TTTC and explained very topically what kind of tests, etc. she reccommended. After I had all my tests (CD3 bloodwork, HSG, etc.) and DH had SA (all within a month), DH then came with me to the appointments because then we were specifically talking about our problems, diagnosis and treatment. Also, he was required to go to those to sign the consent forms.

If you end up treating with the RE for a while, there are just so many missed and going in late/leaving early from work days, it is good to try to limit them when not necessary.

Good luck tomorrow!!!

D & L are here at 34 weeks 4 days by vaginal and breech delivery on 11/19/2013

• C didn't go with me, And actually wasnt able to make it to any of my RE appointments aside from when he had his testing. It would have been nice to have him there to hold my hand, but it wasn't at all necessary.

The first appointment is generally just toget to know you and your medical history an to set up future appointments. I don't recall any questions that were asked about him that I couldn't answer myself.

• I answered Yes that H went with me, but my office required it. They will not begin any treatments or testing unless they have both parties' consent.

For us, it was nice to have him there because he got more of a sense on how serious this is, when he heard it straight from the Dr's mouth. He also liked being able to ask questions and have the Dr reassure him on some things.

• My husband did not go to the U/S but did go to the consultation with me. We talked it over and we agreed that it wasn't necessary for him to take the time off for my ultrasound, but he should be there for any fertility related appointments (when possible with his new job). We have a SA scheduled next week and I will go with him (just in case he needs me).
• Yes, Alan came with me, but like others have said it wasn't entirely necessary. It was great for moral support, but they did all of my testing and gave him a cup. That was pretty much it. The first appointment is a lot of talking.
• R came with me. I was nervous and the moral support was amazing.

Keep in mind however that we had a 4hr+ round trip drive to the RE. We figured he would be given the s/a instructions and it would be nice to not have to do the drive again for that.
Congrats to my TTC buddy Madeline! Cheering for all the strong 3T ladies!

• They told me DH had to go, or we had to reschedule it for a time when he could go. But it was pretty much useless for him to be there. We did get blood drawn there but that could have been done elsewhere I suppose.

• no advice, but I just wanted to pop in and say good luck tomorrow!!!
• DH went with me, but it wasn't necessary for him to go. He just wanted to be a little more informed with what was going on with me/us. The RE pulled out diagrams to show DH what was going on. He was able to ask any questions he had and I think it was very informative for him.

• I second what Aimothy said. You probably won't learn a ton because you are on this site but it was very educational for DH. They also asked him a handful of questions (has he ever gotten anyone KU? Ever has an STD? Ever get kicked in the balls so hard that he needed to go to the Dr? etc).

• My H wasn't able to come with me. He commutes and has a pretty demanding workload so going to Dr. appts. isn't always a priority unless it directly involves him or we are in an immediate crisis and I need his moral support.

They did ask a few things about him, but it wasn't anything I couldn't answer myself. At that point we were pretty sure the problem was with my body and not his so it was NBD.

• Yes, my husband went. We had already filled out our medical history paperwork ahead of time, but it was nice for him to be able to ask his own questions and also hear everything directly from the doctor himself. I was already well aware of everything the doctor was ordering and why, but it was good for DH to learn it all as well.
