well water, septic, and private trash oh my!
Has anyone had any of the above? We will be getting the septic and well inspected. My biggest concern is the well water. Cam aanyone who has/has had well water tell me a little about it?
Re: well water, septic, and private trash oh my!
I have well water and septic system. You will want to pay close attention to what's in your water, high iron, acidity levels and then compensate appropriately, water softeners, filters, etc.
Find out as much as you can about your pump. And remember when the power goes out so does your water.
Spetics you'll want to be carefulk of what goes down. Waste only, careful about cleaning products that goes down b/c you need to keep an active bacteria ecosystem in the tank.
I agree with watch the cleaning products with a septic. Cannot use bleach cleaning products. Also no girl products can be flushed.
I would recommend having someone come out and service the septic.
Check to make sure what the septic tank is made out of and how old it is. You can in fact use bleach cleaning product with a septic tank, but not excessively - a load of laundry or cleaning the toilet once a week shouldn't be a problem.
We were told when we got our septic tank looked at - no bleach products. My parents have a new one and they were told no bleach products. Bleach kills bacteria thus throwing off the bacteria needed to decompose.
We use greased lightning which works wonders. There is also a great bathroom cleaner that uses hydrogen peroxide.
