This coming weekend is my annual Girls Weekend with my BFFs. One thing I'm responsible for bringing is shrimp cocktail. I need to buy shrimp on Thursday afternoon on my way home from work, and we're not eating it until Saturday afternoon. Should I buy fresh or frozen? I'm buying pre-cooked shrimp, by the way - we won't have time to cook them.
I would normally always buy fresh, but I would also normally buy them no longer than 24 hours before I'm planning to eat them. I know that frozen shrimp will thaw within minutes if you run them under cold water, so I'm leaning toward that. There is a slim chance I will be able to stop at the fish market on Friday morning on my way out - is that too soon to buy fresh for Saturday afternoon?

Thanks everyone, I think I'll just buy the frozen ones from the grocery when I go on Thursday instead of making another stop on Friday morning.
