RE Consultation

edited August 2013 in Getting Pregnant

So I met with the RE today. First off, he and his whole office are super nice. So that is good!

We sat down and I explained to him what has been going on with me (no ovulation going on 8 months, on Clomid, unable to do hsg, H getting all clear, etc).

He had some blood taken and I have to call him on Thursday/Friday for the results and what to do next. He gave me a script for Provera and Clomid (100mg now) to hold on to. On Thursday/Friday he will let me know if I should go ahead with the Provera and Clomid. Basically, everything is based on the blood work and him reviewing all the tests I’ve already had and looking at my charts for the last few months.

So, fx for Thursday/Friday and getting things moving. I know he told me a bunch of other stuff, but this is the general gist of it all.

ETA:I cannot figure out why the first line looks like a link... it's not I don't think...

  • Sounds like a positive step in the right direction!  Good luck!

  • I'm glad it went well! Hopefully they're also able to figure out why they couldn't do the HSG and how to fix it on up! Did he say he wanted to try the HSG again? My RE personally did mine, and he had said that he would have wanted to do one himself either way (if I had one done previously or not).

    TTC since March 2012.

  • I'm glad you had a good experience!

Side question, did he check your cervix? I wouldn't want you to be on Clomid and have no chance because there is scar tissue or something blocking the opening. Or did you guys at least discuss that at all?
  • I'm glad you like your RE, and that you have a plan to move forward! FX that you can get things going without further complication.

     ~ S & L 8-25-12  ~
  • I'm glad it was a good meeting!

Is he going to monitor you while you're on Clomid? Or is he going to look into why the HSG didn't work before you start taking it?

  • Everything everyone else said! So glad he's getting the ball rolling on figuring things out for you. No way I'd be wasting cycles taking Clomid if the scar tissue that stopped getting your HSG done would stop YH's spermies from getting up there to fertilize an egg once you do ovulate.

I hope your b/w provides some answer, too!

These questions for me too. There is no point in taking Clomid if there is any chance your DH's sperm can't get in there!

  • He said he didn't see any reason scar tissue would be an issue with no previous pregnancies/losses or surgeries. He said that most likely I just have a super narrow cervix because I've never been pregnant. He said he can do one of two things for a repeat HSG: dilate my cervix and see if that works OR some old fashioned acorn technique that doesn't involve entering the cervix at all. Either way, narrow cervix or not, that won't stop the spermies per him. RELIEF!

Well that is good news!!! I might want to do the HSG with cervical dilation prior to the Clomid just to see if there is anything else going on in there. Good luck whatever you decide to do next! :-)
