How the heck do you pick a convertible car seat? We don't need one yet, but I want to start looking. I have no idea where to begin.
Re: s/o carseats
I actually have two seats- one for each car. In my car I have a Britax Marathon for now which will probably not allow him to rear face as long as I would like. The other seat we have is a Radian which will allow him to rear-face longer. I liked the low profile of the Radian which I think makes it easier to get him in and out. I don't like the straps as much as I like the ones on the Britax, but I guess no seat is perfect. If I were going to be switching the seat from one car to another frequently I would have looked for one that was easier to install and lighter weight. The Radian is pretty heavy! I don't really mind rethreading the belt as he grows, but I know some people hate doing that. I have had to clean the Britax seat and it wasn't too bad. The other seats I was considering were the Graco My Ride 70 and the Nextfit. The Foonf is another seemingly popular seat, but it was out of my price range.
The main thing is that it needs to fit your child and fit in your car properly! As I mentioned before I think the FB group is really helpful. There are some ladies in that group that really know their stuff! I didn't have a lot of questions when I joined, nor did I really know what I was looking for, but in reading the questions and responses it made me consider things I otherwise would not have.
To make you feel my love.
We did get a cheap Cosco Scenera for our third vehicle and to use while traveling since I didn't want the Britax to get ruined, but DH ended up hating how much more difficult everything was (adjusting straps, tightening, etc) plus it didn't seem as comfortable and had way less cushioning that we ended up buying a third Boulevard. To us the ease and comfort of it was ultimately worth the extra money.
