GTKY

Hi ladies. We haven't had a get to know you in a while, and we've had a lot of new people it seems like on here lately, so I thought I'd start one.

If you won/inherited/ got a million dollars tomorrow, what would you do with it?

Re: GTKY

  • For us, first we would gift $26k to our son's college fund. Then we would probably invest the rest. DH wants to retire early and this would go A LONG ways to helping that out. DH has been wanting a truck though, so maybe before we invested we would buy him a truck and upgrade my vehicle to something that will eventually fit 2-3 kids and carseats.

  • 1) Pay off H's student loans
    2) Buy a reasonably nice house. We live in a HCOL area so a good chunk of it would go there.
    3) Buy a car for me (only H has one now)
    4) Save and prep for a baby

    If only!

  • pay off my student loan
buy property and build a cabin in colorado then do vaca rentals with it
invest quite a bit in retirement
    college fund for DD
    wood floors in our downstairs
    hot tub for patio
    finish off basement

  • First, we would donate at least 10% to charity.  Then we would probably pay of the mortgage even though this probably wouldn't give us the most bang for our buck.  Next, we would probably do some home upgrades and then invest the rest.

  • Invest half

    Pay off all debt

College funds for DS and new LO

  • Hmmm... I think we'd try to pay off our mortgage or build our future home (we plan to build something in a few yrs on a lakefront lot we purchased), put some towards helping our parents, and invest the rest. And okay, we'd probably buy a little sailboat for me or a Cessna for H after we took care of all the "responsible" things. :)
?Laugh whenever you can. Keeps you from killing yourself when things are bad. That and vodka.?
  • I would:

    buy a home

    buy DH a car

    pay off debt

place some in a savings for emergencies/college fund for DH

    put the remaining in investments

upgrade car and buy me one.

    in no particular order.

  • Pay off any outstanding debt; buy a house; buy my SO and I reasonable cars (both of ours are on the brink of death). Then I'd probably put a large chunk in savings and invest whatever remains.
