AW: first day of Kindergarten!
So Faith had her first day today!! Wondering how any other kindergarten mommas are doing if your little one started school this week??? Faith cried a little on the bus this am because she though she was in trouble(she tried to go and sit in the back with the older kids from her bus stop
Re: AW: first day of Kindergarten!
Faith looks so excited! Do they ask the K students to sit up front?
Jake has a part-day orientation on Friday (complete with a test bus ride!) then his first full day is next Tuesday!!

Dd starts Tuesday after Labor Day. I did a little starting school photo shoot with her this past weekend at school in her first day outfit. That was fun! I'm not sure I will get many smiles the day of since she isn't excited about it!
We have orientation next week so I'm hoping that helps some
Alternatives if you can't find one: printed on a paper in a frame; write in chalk on sidewalk or driveway; write it on the picture after the fact with editing; use a book (I took some pics with dd and her Barenstain Bear's first day of school book and she has a book called Mom, its my first day of kindergarten).

Adam had orientation today. We all went to one place and listened to the teacher then they Read the Kissing Hand before sending the kids down to the class rooms and leaving us behind. DARN them.
I tried to distract myself from the story by dealing with Ian, who was sorta coming around and moving. WELL then they tell us to exchange a kissing hand with each other and for the kids to line up. Adam started to fight back tears so I cried.
(
Most of the kids just went and got in line. He was one of like 4 or 5 that had issues. he kinda pulled himself together as the Counselor stepped in and took him to help him find the line. He walked out with him. 2 other boys who were SOBBING and a little girl. He started to tear up again as he walked by us, and the mom next to me caught me. Asking if he was my first?
Ultimatly he was great. when we got to the class room he was all smiles, though happy to see us. He was talking all about the things the teacher said and when we got in the car said "I can't believe it...I'm going to kindergarten!"
I have no Idea how the bus is going to go on the first day though... We did not get a sample bus ride. He is excited about the bus- but I think going on and driving away alone may be hard on him?? I hope not. At least if I cry he wont see it!!
We don't know anyone on our street that will be at the bus stop. I am pretty sure there are no kindergarten kids on our street.

Thanks!!
Aww so sweet. I remember when Caileigh went I was a MESS! We drove her the first day and then the next we waited for the bus (she was scared to death) and it drove right past her so that scared her even more! Then she was still nervous about it so I found the one neighborhood kid that went to the school & took the bus (he was a 6th grade boy) and asked him if he would sit with her and show her where to go. He did and she went and sat next to him everyday from then on. I had no idea that you had to stay in the seat you chose the first day! Meanwhile, the boy was probably annoyed by middle of the school year that a kindergarten girl was sitting next to him in the back seat!
He'll do ok but it may take a few days. Try to scout out an older kid to take him under his wing on the bus if you can. Maybe ask the teachers who else is on his bus, that's what I did.
As for you well can't help there --I still tear up on the first day!
