Talk to me about Infant Carseats/Carriers
Is a 22 lb. weight limit too little for the infant carseat? The Maxi Cosi that I like http://www.amazon.com/Maxi-Cosi-Mico-Infant-Total-Black/dp/B004GJYU48/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376942770&sr=8-1&keywords=maxi-cosi+mico has a 22 lb limit. I see a lot of other ones go up to 30ish lbs. Truth be told, I don't even know how old kids are when they are 22 lbs or 30 lbs!!! I don't want to convert them into regular car seats if they are too young!
I guess my question is (a) will the kiddos even want to be in the carrier when they are 22 lbs and (b) will they be too heavy anyway at 22 lbs for me or my mom to carry them?
Thanks!

Re: Talk to me about Infant Carseats/Carriers
I can't remember when I switched to a different rear facing seat. I can say though, he was heavy and it was getting hard to lift him up and over the base. I want to say he was about 20-22 lbs or so. He's 27-28 lbs now and he's 16 months, but he's just a big boy and long, not chubby.

Lesson learned!!
Before getting a convertible seat I would do a lot of research to make sure you get one that meets your needs. There is a FB group called car seats for the littles that was really helpful. I am hoping to do extended rear facing so that was a consideration when selecting our seat.

We only kept DD in the infant car seat until she was about 10 mo (she weighed around 17-18 lbs at the time) then moved her to the convertible car seat placed rear facing. You are supposed to keep them rear facing until 2 but that doesn't mean in an infant car seat necessarily. I don't know of any 2 yr olds that are going to still want to sit in one as they typically prefer to sit more upright and as I said will be too tall.
On the flip side, DS was born at 9 lbs and at 5 weeks is about 12 1/2 lbs already so I have a feeling he will be hitting the weight/height limit sooner and in that case I am glad we got one that has the higher weight limit.
