I'm a Bitter Betty (Vent - BR)

There's really nothing to this post except that I'm a bitter person today, and I need to vent.

There are 4 sets of couples that we hang out with, and in the past couple of months 2 sets have had a baby. They're the first out of the 8 of us to have kids.  Last night the 2nd one had their baby.

Well, when the first set gave birth in June, they sent us a text saying that he was born, what his name was, and "no epidural." H just text them back congratulations and asked when it worked with them for us to come up to the hospital.

So this morning I sent the 2nd girl a text that said Congratulations Momma! (they had their boy last night) She responded to me with "No Drugs!" Um......good job???

Then the first girl sent me a text that said "did you hear L went 100% natural? Are you going to join the club when you have your baby and go natural?"  How the hell am I supposed to respond to that? H told me to respond with, "well, we aren't going to conceive a baby naturally so why give birth to it naturally?" They don't know that we have been TTC for a while, and only the 1st girl knows that we miscarried last year, but it's just making me bitter Betty today.

I'm happy for them, but why must this be a debate amongst our group of friends? Great, you went natural, that's your choice and I think you're brave. H said that I should just start randomly texting them each time I get some testing done. "Look at my ultrasound pictures of my ovaries covered in cysts. Aren't they cute?" "I got 7 viles of blood drawn today....Naturally."

This stuff usually never gets to me, and I'm pretty good about being able to just put my feelings aside and be happy for them. But for some reason today is not the day for that.

  • That's really annoying.  Who cares if they went natural?

  • That sucks.  I would write back 'our birth plan involves meth!'  But I am a jerk that way.

    LMAO!

I keep joking with H that I'm going to just text her back and say that my Dr and I have already made an agreement to sedate me through the whole process.

Although my response may end up being similar to what @aimothy suggested. But H doesn't want them to know that we're TTC. So I probably shouldn't.

  • Honestly, it may be good to talk to some of your IRL friends about your TTC struggles. Support is a good thing, and it may stop them from making comments that hurt your feelings.

We know that we will at some point.  I'm fine with sharing it, but H doesn't want them to feel like they can never bring their kids around us because of the emotions it may bring on.  The 1st couple knows about our miscarriage, and we can tell that they have some distance with us already with their son.

I have told my best friend though, and vent to her a lot about things. So that has definitely helped.

  • I enjoy your H's response :-P I'm not really sure what all the competition is about these days with drugs/no drugs. It's childbirth, you do what makes you comfortable.  I'm sure they were proud since I imagine "no drugs" was part of the birth plan, but does it need to be a club?  And the one who knew you m/c doesn't really need to make unnecessary comments period.
