Last IUI, I think...

I had my monitoring ultrasound today, and things are looking good. I will trigger tonight for IUI on Friday morning. Hopefully we can get a sample this time around. DH has been mentally preparing himself all week.

When the nurse called, she said, "Dr. ________ also said that if this procedure doesn't work, and we hope it does, that he wants you to come in for more testing." I was trying to get off the phone quickly because I was at school, so I didn't ask any questions, but now I have a ton.

What other testing would they do? We did the IF workup in February. Are they going to retest us? Is there additional testing before moving on to IVF? I mean, I always mentally prepare myself that it won't work, and we're fine with moving on to IVF. I guess I'm just wondering about the process of moving on from IUI to IVF.

  • I don't know what more testing they would do, but I hope that you don't need it and the IUI is successful this time! FX that it is also easier for your DH this time around.
Congrats to my TTC buddy Madeline! Cheering for all the strong 3T ladies!

  • ? Yeah, I wonder what other tests could be done? But maybe it's just repeating the same tests to see if somethings changed or they missed something? Either way, Fingers crossed for you that this one sticks and you don't even have to thing about it!!

  • Doctors always jump ahead with their plans, (if this doesn't work, we do this). While I'm totally guilty of getting ahead of myself when they do this, for your own sanity, I think you should just focus on this cycle with the hope that you won't need that next step. If the next step is needed, your doctor will fill you in.

When you say you've had the IF workup, what exactly did you have?

  • Now I'm wondering if she just misspoke and meant that we were going to have to come in to discuss our options. If we can get the insurance figured out (will we have to wait before certain benefits, like IVF, are available), we are ready to move on whenever. Thank you, Massachusetts for mandatory IF coverage!
