Reading Funk

I have a ton of library books out and shelves FULL of books, but the last two books I've started I've put back down. I hate that. None of the books I have sound good. I've been reading them in order they are due back, but I'm thinking that's stressing me out.

Sigh. Why must there be so many books to read that I get so overwhelmed?

With Audible, I've been downloading favorites and listening to them. I just got Vision in White and will be getting Bed of Roses next time.

Yep I agree too. I have to reread an old favorite to get out of a funk. Usually an NR or HP.

Understandable! You have a lot going on right now! I hate to say it, but I didn't read ANYTHING for 2 months as a result of our move. I just couldn't focus on anything. I'm finally getting back to it!

I re-read a favorite or listen to it on audio. I'm banning myself from the library, I'm returning a book I've had for weeks, just kept renewing it, that I didn't read at all. I have shelves full of books and I have 2 more arriving today, my husband is going to kill me.

When this happens to me, I re-read something I love, or I read completely brainless stuff until I'm out of my funk.

I find I get overwhelmed and don't enjoy my books as much if I read them in the order they're due back too. Same thing with if I pick it up and only have a few days left until it's due or if it's a new book and has a shorter borrowing period (even if I know I'll have it done in time). You can always take them out again if you don't finish in time!

I have. And loved it. In fact, part of my funk is because a blogger friend is letting me borrow her JOY ARC and will be sending in the next few days. I can't focus on any other book knowing that it's coming soon.

I LOVED the Shadow of the Wind but it's slow, beautiful journey. I think @jackiback likes this one too if it helps convince you that you need to read it!

I think that Shadow of the Wind is a great reading funk breaker!

When I am in a funk, I like to read fiction that is not too light and that totally sucks me in. Think: Kate Morton, The Night Circus, stuff like that. I think that this meets the bill and is just a great book.

You'll be proud! I took like 6 books back to the library to nix some of the pressure.

I started Where Did You Go Bernadette since it has good ratings on GR. So far (I'm only on page 20something) it's not boring me.
