So I'm in planning mode looking at our fall and have a couple of things we could do the Saturday before our anniversary (beer fest with OOT friends, hosting a football party since we play OSU that will probably mean our only game on local ABC) but it got me thinking. We've had several friends plan little getaways for their first anniversary, and at first i wanted us to go on a big vacation for ours but I don't think it's necessary, especially now that h is starting a new job. I figured we would do one of the above and then on Sunday we would do a nice dinner, come home and gorge on our cake and watch our video or something. Is that lame or should we do something more extravagant?? What are your plans??
Re: 1st anniversary plans
I wanted to go away for our anniversary, since it's Columbus Day weekend and I'll be off on Monday, but that Tuesday is final tax extension day and H is an accountant. He doesn't think his boss will give him Monday off.
My brother's friend passed away last summer. His job began an annual memorial West Point football game in honor of him. The ticket includes a huge tailgate cooked by a bunch of firefighters. My brother, SIL and nephew went last year and said it was a blast. The game is the day before our anniversary, so we're going, then we think we're going to stay at a hotel in the area for the night and come home on our anniversary. We also plan to eat our cake.
A more reasonable option that would have happened would have been a Santa Barbara weekend trip or something. It could still happen but I guess I was surprised that I would rather throw a football party and see friends that weekend and do a simple dinner on the day of, than a wine trip that we can do any other weekend.
I'm really looking forward to the cake though!! Our bakery makes a new topper for their couples on their 1 year. It was seriously the best cake I've ever had!! And h didn't get a slice of the vanilla with cream and strawberries on our wedding night so that will be the flavor we get!
