WTF?!? Miley Cyrus' VMA "performance"

Okay, I did not watch the VMA's last night but after my FB feed blew up with post about Miley's performance and it was the talk of all radio media this morning, I had to watch.

OMG, so freaking obnoxious! I am not a huge fan to begin with but that was just too much. And I am not a prude at all but her use of the foam finger was over the top.

She is a mess. I only watched for about a half an hour (I felt old!), but it made me remember when I was young and everyone freaked out about the VMA shenanigans. And now I know why parents freaked and thought it was inappropriate for their kids. Because I wouldn't have wanted my kids to see her performance. She is NASTY.

I loved that they kept cutting to Will Smith and his family during the performance. I turned it on during a breaking bad commercial, and then had to stay and watch, despite the fact that the whole performance was a obnoxious train wreck. There was no need for those gestures, and what was up with the disturbing bear people?

It was disgusting. Gaga was tasteful in comparison and I'm usually appalled by her performances. I mean Miley is supposed to be this happily engaged girl rubbing all up on a married man, thats just all sorts of wrong. I mean you could tell things were going south when this girl pole danced at 16. Now she is just trashy. She needs a serious intervention or something.

That was seriously a train wreck. It generally doesn't phase me when musicians/celebrities push the envelope and do crazy things, but that was just a trashy, hot mess.

Agreed, completely nasty overall. Remember when people were in an uproar when Britney wore that nude/sequined body suit in the early 2000s? or when she kissed Madonna? That all seems so tame in comparison to what went on last night.

I agree that the whole show made me feel so old. Miley just looked like a trashy hot mess. Why was she sticking her tongue out so much? I know people like to do "shocking" things at shows like that, but honestly it seemed like she was trying waaaay too hard to shock people. I think some artists can pull of a shocking performance and some can't. I think the sign of a good performance is that people want to watch it again. I don't ever want to watch this performance again. I wish I could remove it from my memory.

I didn't watch the VMAs, but just took time to watch her new video over the weekend. Was it similar to that or worse? I hear it is the new Miley, she was suggesting puberty made her that way.

I watched it unfortunately and I hardly know any pop songs but the thing I know about Miley is Hannah Montana & "Party in the USA" so I was thoroughly confused last night. Why did she keep rubbing herself and is that what "twerking" is b/c that is a new word to me as of last night! (I am so old!). I mean if her gestures matched the song then maybe it would have made sense (like a virgin etc..) but that just didn't make sense to me. Anywho, too bad Robin Thicke agreed to have her in his act b/c I like that song but not anymore. He totally got overshadowed - she was singing his lines & not very well! But she got what she wanted b/c that's all anyone is talking about!

What I did realize is they showed 3 or 4 people the whole night - Lady Gaga (who apparently couldn't stand up), Taylor Swift who sings to everyone's songs (she did this last awards show too) and One Direction & the girls in front of them that looked pissed off the whole night. Where were all the other celebs? And where was JT's wife?

Sheila - I was wondering why they kept showing the same celebs too! It was a boring, boring show overall (outside of the shock factor and JT / Nsync).

Although, I loved Katy Perry's performance under the Brooklyn bridge!

Ugh I didn't watch the vmas but had to check out miley on YouTube after all the hubbub. She definitely was trying too hard. She looked like she was on drugs, it was so ugly. I am embarrassed for her. What is this world coming to? I want Britney and her snake back...
