Dry Skin/Beauty Help

The past few weeks my eyelids and the skin under my eyes has gotten really dry and itchy. The tightness also makes it look like I have deep wrinkles and bags under my eyes.  I use a mild cleanser (cetaphil) and my normal moisturizer (neutrogena) doesn't  seem to help at all.  Any suggestions?

Re: Dry Skin/Beauty Help

  • I really like the yellow moisturizer from Clinique.  Also, a student from Africa gave me some pure shea butter.  You'd have to order it from somewhere like Amazon, but in the winter, it makes my face so smooth.  (It seems greasy and thick, but it's not at all - I don't know why it's not readily available in the US!)  She says the kind at L'Occitane (one of the few stores that have shea butter) isn't the same, so you have to look for the pure stuff.
  • I recently started using coconut oil for my face and so far I've been loving it.  I rub some on my face and then put a hot wash cloth over my face for a few minutes, then wipe it off.
  • Sound like eczema, I used to get it under my eyes. I have used Aquafor at night on super dry patches on my face and it works great.

  • I too would treat it like mild eczema.  Cerave is my favorite cream for that, easy to rub in, gentle, not greasy.
  • I get that some times too.  I just try to not wash that area with soap and then moisturize like crazy at bedtime so it can really soak in.

  • I was thinking eczema or an allergy.  I remember having something like what you describe and it was suggested that I use baby shampoo around the eyes.
