Seriously though, summer is not a good presidential biography time? What's up!?!

I'm finishing a 1,000 page Truman bio and I can admit it: my eyes are crossing. The dude is awesome but 1,000 pages? Wowza.

I am a little embarrassed to say that I'm still on John Adams. I am not really a fan of the book I picked and instead of finding another one, I just read a couple of pages very sporadically. I'm halfway done, I just hope it doesn't take me another 6 months to finish this half. But I'm not giving up!

I'm not "officially" doing the challenge (not into writing reviews, I'm not keeping to the timetable as well as I should be) but I have been reading sequential biographies since I heard about the challenge. Right now I'm miring through the forgotten presidents between Jackson and Lincoln. Currently doing Zachary Taylor.

I just took almost a month to re-read Wise Man's Fear. I think I'm going to read Surrender to Sultry next, then I'm on to John Quincy Adams by Harlow Giles Unger!

(Okay ignoring the post above...how stupid does he think we are, I hate scammers)

Anyways I'm slowly working my way through Washington: A Life. I really do love it but I read about a chapter a day. I want to be able to fully focus and really take in all the details and I'm afraid if I try to read big chunks I'm going to start zoning out. I love all the ways he throws some very dry humor in there!

Oh gosh, the early 1800's are energy zapping. At least you get Polk in there. He was a saving grace.

I read Washington: A Life in the spring, and am working my way through a couple of others before heading back to John Adams by David McCullough. I'm thinking maybe around Christmas I'll get to that one. I'm in no rush, and am treating this challenge as a life long thing.

I just finished Theodore Roosevelt: A Life by Nathan Miller and loved it. I have been slacking at writing reviews (I haven't written a review for Arthur, Cleveland, Harrison, McKinley or Roosevelt). I suck at writing and dread writing reviews. Maybe someday soon I will sit down and write something.

I have my Taft bio narrowed down between two books and I just need to decide which one to read already and order it.

Can I add that one of my favorite parts of this challenge is the fact that I'm going to have a bookshelf will ALL of the presidential biographies on it when I'm done. I'm really excited about that.

I thought about this when I read my last bio (Monroe) - it was the first one I bought as an e-book. Now I'm kind of regretting it, but I also feel like I can't justify going back and buying a hard copy too...

Oh, owning them all is maybe my best motivator. I already told Shaun that when I get totally done that we're pulling them all of of the shelves, putting them in order and taking pictures

I've only read Washington, but we own it both in hard copy and ebook. For Adams, I only own the hard copy, so if anyone happens to see the McCullough ebook on super-sale one of these days, please let me know!
