NBR: Skin Care

I have a small GC to Sephora and I'd like to spend it on skin care.  I know it really might not make a dent in what good stuff might cost, but I really want to get better at taking care of my skin. I don't have wrinkles yet, but I know they are coming soon and I want to put them off as long as possible.

What do you use? Have you noticed a difference?  What's your regimen?

Re: NBR: Skin Care

  • I have never stepped foot into a Sephora so I have no idea what they sell. Sorry  :-O

  • Currently, I am using Lancôme's High Resolution Refill 3X at night and their Bienfait Multivital moisturizer during the day. I would highly recommend them, although I think they are little pricey. They are my splurge. Well, the High Resolution anyway. I also got samples of the Genifique serum and I love it, but don't want to pay that much.

Oh, that's a shame.  I could spend my whole life there.  They care a ton of different brands.  Some common, some super duper expensive magical stuff I'm sure.

That stuff is magic. It is actually almost worth the price.

It is Lancôme's bonus time at Macy's so I got another sample of it. I am savoring every last drop!

The company I work for makes a high end line of skin care (I won't get into specifics because I don't want to be too vendor-y). I will say that I have ABSOLUTELY noticed a difference from when I didn't use skin care to when I started using our products. I use the anti-aging line we make even though I don't have wrinkles yet. My skin is clearer and firmer. The anti-aging products aren't just to repair visible signs of aging, but to actually prevent them, so you should start using them younger to get the best results.

A basic skin care regimen has 3 steps: Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize. If you have specific skin care concerns you should add a 4th step between the toner and moisturizer to treat those concerns. You'll get the most bang for your buck in an all over serum type product for the treat step. If you're just getting started in skin care, though, start slowly and add products gradually so you know how your skin will react to each step.

I've also never been into a Sephora before.

I just use Aveeno face wash and moisturizer. They have a "clear complexion" line, and that's what I use.

I ask for little samples of it every time I'm in Sephora. I don't feel too guilty, I really will purchase it at some point. I just haven't committed yet.

  • I've tried several of the higher-end brands, but honestly what has worked best for me has been Aveeno.

  • I use Garnier, so I am not much help. However, I have always been a Clinique fan, and I love Philosophy products. So those would be my Sephora recommendations.

  • I either use my lavender castille soap, just like I use on the rest of me, or plain old Dove.

If I had a Sephora gift card, I would put it toward Philosophy perfume or body spray.  Or a fun, shiny lip gloss.  That's the full extent of my cosmetic use.

Everything I have heard about the store is amazing, I just haven't been lucky enough to go in one. Maybe one day....

  • I use baby wipes to take my make-up off in the evening and I use Ivory soap to wash my face in the morning.

    That's it.

  • I use DDF Ultra Moisturizing Dew.  I really like it because it moisturizes and sinks into your skin but doesn't make it greasy at all.  I'm not sure if they sell it at Sephora or not.  I get it from Ulta.  I use Philosophy facial cleanser.  I think it's called Purity.  I can't remember.  It's alright.  I like their Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash better.  I like all of these products but none of them have been really life changing.  I'd like to find a really awesome anti-aging moisturizer that isn't greasy, an awesome eye cream and a spot corrector that actually works.

  • I'm Philosophy almost all the way.  Purity, Hope in a Jar, Hope for Eyes, and I use the Microdelivery Wash as a facial.  I usually get a stockpile for Christmas.

Their acne stuff doesn't work for me though, I use the Clinique spot stuff for that.

If you have a JC Penney store by you, they have a Sephora counter.  If you want to see what all the fuss is about.

  • I'm forever on the hunt for things that will take away the redness in my face.  Currently, I'm using Bare Minerals rare earth facewash and redness reducing treatment.  I use a sensitive skin moisturizer with SPF in it.

Nothing works fully though.  So no more pictures of me.

Have you tried the Clinique Redness solutions line?? It is for Rosacea, but it works super well to tone down redness of any kind.

  • I ended up doing this trial version. The reviews looked amazing.  So we'll see if it works for me.  I did get some Philosophy samples too so I can see how that works. I see that philosophy has a smaller kit too, but it was almost twice the price.  If this does nothing for me, I might splurge for that.

  • I've heard good things about that line. You'll have to let us know how it works for you.
