Married mil-mil

Oy vey! So first, and intro since I'm new here. I'm Virginia. My husband and I are stationed at Tinker AFB and live in Moore. So, yeah, there's the gist of it all.

I feel like we hardly ever see each other, y'know? We were discussing today how it's impossible to keep the house clean and be motivated to do chores when we get home and wondering how we're going to be any better once kids start getting in the picture. I was wondering if any of you guys had any suggestions. I don't know if there are any mil to mil marriages here, too, but any advice AT ALL would be wonderful at this point!

I just joined the Guard, but before that I worked a mid shift full time. H and I never saw each other either during the week. Our house was never dirty, but it was cluttered pretty much all the time.

Use some of that dual BAH and hire a housekeeper once a week or so.

I'm currently a civilian in DEP, DH is AD, and I've been working mostly 2-10 so I pretty much see DH at night for 30 minutes before we fall asleep and sometimes do for the hour that I go to the pool to do laps if he meets me there since he leaves for the gym at 4 am. I usually spend a lot of time in the gym myself so there's very little time to just clean the crap out of everything. I do one room a day every other week and vacuum pretty much every morning because the dog hair gives me no other option. Today I threw laundry in and went for a run outside while it washed. It's sweet though that you think that your problem is limited only to dual military couples.

DH and I were Mil to Mil before we married. Sometimes we would be on the same shift so it was easy to kick each other in the but to mow the lawn or do the dishes. On opposite shifts it was a little harder. Try assigning tasks to each other with deadlines. The lawn has to be mowed by Tuesday or the dishes have to be done (at least!!) every other day. And hold each other accountable. Good luck!

BE THANKFUL!!!

Co-location is a WONDERFUL thing. Don't take it for granted. My husband and I did at times. I'd trade the world for that again. My husband and I were both stationed in Charleston for 2 years. I'm on Med Hold so I'm stuck here and he PCSed to Washington State.

I thought I barley saw him while he was working rotating shift work and I had a 9-5. What I wouldn't trade for those days again. But we'd write notes to each other on the mirror, the dry erase board.

I'd cook dinner most nights, we made time for each other when we had joint time off. Sometimes one of us would sacrifice sleep to hang out and just talk.

It gets a little bit easier, more so because you realize I can do this.
