Baby Books

I was going to make one but now I just don't feel up to it anymore.

Where did you get yours and what helped you decide on which one to get?

I am just looking for something simple that will keep track of all the major milestones in baby's life.

If anyone did make their own, Was there a website that made it fairly easy to do? Templates and such....

Thanks!

Re: Baby Books

  • edited August 2013

I hated all the standard baby books I've seen, so I have made the decision to do a Project Life binder for the first year and see how it goes. I'm kinda bad about sticking to these kinds of things, but I think the kid will be great motivation to keep working on it.

ETA: I picked this one, because I really like the format. The cards that come with the kit have prompts to fill in basic info, but there are also blank cards for you to add your own thoughts. You can do as much or as little as you want, and I love how everything can just slide into the pockets, and you can change the layouts easily.

  • @caseyandlizzie - I am interested in your Project Life Binder.  Is it just like a binder you will keep the first year and add anything you want to it?

I agree...all the pre-made babybooks seem cheesy and boring to me...Which is why I keep going back and forth between making something and buying something. I want to make something but then I think about the work it entails so I look for something to buy and I don't like any of it. The cycle starts over............

  • So Project Life is a kit sort of deal. You buy the set of cards, the binder, and the insert pages seperate (I got the binder and inserts at Michael's with a coupon, and they were not PL brand, but they'll work). Here are some inspiration projects others have done to give you an idea of what you can do with it. It's like scrapbooking for the scrap book challenged. ;)

  • I got the cheesy baby book when my DD was a baby.. I started it and only finished half. With DS I have kept track of all his milestones but have yet to put it in to his baby premade scrapbook. I'm terrible at this. AT least I have ton's of pictures documenting stages.

  • I got one from Amazon that was pretty simple. It went up to a year. It had pages to fill in and places for photos. I plan on making photo books each year around DS' birthday as well. His first year book makes me tear up. They change so much!

  • I had the belly book so I got the baby book that went with it but it didn't have anywhere to put doctor appts and stuff so I got a carter's one as well. I have both of them and my belly book almost all filled out and I am working on a scrapbook for her and I am making a first year week by week one. It is a little much but I don't want to forget anything and I know she will love them when older.

  • I got Lil's from an Etsy shop, Ruby Love. It's highly customizable.
  • @Shazzie116 - Those are so cute! Would you say worth the $60?

Is there room to add the additional items if you also purchase the 2 Year old info and/or hands and feet page, etc.? Would those be separate books or are they sections you add to the $60 book?

I am loving those. I hate that I look at baby books though and think...Oh my gosh, so cute. And then the next thought is...Why does my handwriting have to suck so bad!?!?!? I feel like I totally am going to ruin the cuteness.
