Did anyone create their own wedding album?

I'm looking to buy parent albums off the internet because the ones my photographer is offering are hundreds of dollars each and I just think that's too much. Did anyone make their own wedding albums or their parent albums online? If you did, what website did you use and what did you think of the final product (quality wise)? Thanks!

Re: Did anyone create their own wedding album?

  • I did a few on snapfish, they were fine. I wasn't looking for heirloom quality. Heck, nobody really cares about the pics afterward. If your photographer is offering them for sale, though, how are you going to get the pics to put into the album? Did you get a disk?
  • my sister in law made her own and the ones for the parents on shutterfly.

  • I hand made mine. I love scrap booking! I got two 12x12 albums as a gift from my mom at our wedding shower (1 for the ceremony, 1 for the reception) and then I got scrapbook paper and stickers from my sister. I ordered photos after the wedding and went to work. I would post pictures, but we're in the process of moving so they're in a box somewhere.

If you're not crafty like me, then I would suggest Shutterfly, a lot of my family members use that site and their albums turn out great! I'm sure that's the route I'll end up taking once we have kids and I have less time to scrapbook.
  • There are many on line sites you can use.

Lots better than what the photog can give you.

    Try Shutterfly or Snapfish.

  • Shutterfly. It's free to sign up, and they send codes for free prints and a free photo book several times a year. You just pay S&H and tax. It will even do the book for you once you load the pictures. I always have a book waiting to order when I get a code for a free one.
  • Ditto to Shutterfly. They often have codes for either free photobooks, $10 off photo books, or free shipping.  It's not too hard to do once you get the hang of it.

  • I had this same question! We just got our beautiful photos back and were wondering what were some good sites to consider.

  • For prints I use Mpix. I don't know why but I love them for that. I used My Publisher for our wedding album and albums for our families. Ours I did lay flat pages. Everyone thought they were professionally done.
  • I just got an email for a LivingSocial Shutterfly photobook deal. It's for a free photobook for new customers. Check out LivingSocial! :)

We used Adoramapix for our wedding book and the parent books and Mypublisher for the Grandparent books.  I prefer the Adoramapix books as they look a bit more professional and the pictures are actually printed on photo paper.  Adoramapix is more expensive then Mypublisher for base price, but for Adormapix pearlized photo cover and extra thick layflat pages are included in the price where Mypublisher you have to add these things on which make the price almost the same as Adoramapix.

I've used Adoramapix a few times since to make vacation albums and I love them.  If in doubt I recommend ordering a book ahead of time to check out the quality before ordering a wedding book (do you have honeymoon or vacation pics you could use to test out the sites?)
  • A lot of people have good success with Shutterfly,

I just wanted to say that I actually used a wedding scrapbooking kit, and make my own book.  I loved doing it because I was able to include items from the wedding itself!  I have a napkin from the reception, one of my original invites and rsvps, a petal decoration from the aisle, etc.

  • We got a free 12X12 hardcover from Shutterfly and used it to make an engagement photo album to have near the guest book at our wedding.  It turned out REALLY nice!  I'll definitely look to them when it comes time to get my wedding album done.  Photographers are WAY!!!! too expensive in the album department.
  • Shutterfly does a good job with these things. I'm also thinking of using the Creative Memories software to make my parent books - they have "lay flat" pages, quality paper, the option for you to type in captions for the photos, etc.

I'm making my own scrapbooks for the wedding in addition to the professional book the photographers are making us, simply because there are so many pictures we love. (The photographer's book was already paid for by my mom and stepdad, which was very nice of them, so we figure that will be where we have all our formal portraits. My scrapbooks will be where I put all the fun pictures from the day - laughing with my bridesmaids, falling on the dance floor, my car getting covered with silly string and shaving cream... good times.)
  • We used MyPublisher, which was bought out by Shutterfly for our albums and we are very happy with them. The quality was very nice and I liked the design system. They have really good sales regularly so sign up for their emails.
