College Days

Hi all,
I'm back again with another question for you awesome ladies, inspired by the fact that this is the first day of fall classes for students at the community college I work at.

What are some of your favorite college memories? What events/services/people on your campus really made your experience memorable and successful?

Re: College Days

  • I'm still in university and went through the process of transferring. I absolutely loved my first university, it was a smaller school and everyone from the staff to the students were really welcoming and helpful. I lived in residence and had an absolute blast meeting new people and experiencing city life for the first time ha ha. My new school (moved when I got married since he has to attend the school he's at and my program is available everywhere) has been very frustrating as I often receive the wrong information or no information. On top of that I haven't found the other students to be very friendly. While I continue to get the same grades, the difference for me between a positive experience and a negative one has definitely been how available support is.

Thanks for sharing! Transferring is almost always a pain, even with the help of top notch advisers, but it certainly doesn't help when you don't feel supported. Good luck on the pursuit of your degree...what is your major?

  • My happiest times in college were doing undergrad research.  I was just saying on the other board that when I used to say "I'm going home," I meant to my undergrad lab.  Even the smell of the bacteria I worked with, to this day, gives me a feeling of peace.

I'm a history major, English minor. I'm planning to get my B. Ed after my B.A. Two years to go to my first degree and one or two more after that depending on what province we're living in at that point. I'll most likely be doing my B. Ed at yet another university since DH is military... hopefully it won't be as much of a pain to do second degree stuff as transferring partway through!
