Under the Dome on TV (spoilers through last night's ep)

Who is also still watching this?  The acting is awful for the most part, and it's so very different from the book, but I'm into it.  I was losing interest a little there, when Big Jim was coming off as not so evil, but after last night I'm totally into it.  I love the Scooby Doo detective thing that the kids have going on.  And I have a feeling Big Jim will go down in an ugly, ugly way, but probably not til next season, since there are only 2 episodes left this season.  Also, I still think Barbie is hot.

Re: Under the Dome on TV (spoilers through last night's ep)

  • I'm still watching it but I didn't read the book so I don't know if I count .  I don't think the acting is that bad, I've definitely seen much worse on TV.

I think I need to find a good synopsis of the book somewhere, I'm dying to know what was changed and how.

Everything. Everything was changed.  I'm not even exaggerating - the fact that a giant dome crashes down over the town as the basic premise, along with character names/descriptions is about all they took from the book.

It actually makes it easier to handle than if they had just changed some things.  It's a whole new story.

I'm still into it, too!  I also like the kid's storyline and while I think the rest is kind of dumb, I like looking at Barbie.  So I'll keep watching ;-)

  • It's all kind of out there, and I think that if I hadn't read the book, I never would've been in to the show at all.  But they sucked me in by saying that it was based on an awesome book, and then kept me around because I also like looking at Barbie.  I like that I'm starting to hate Big Jim now, too.  He was one of my favorite evil characters in any book I've read - the kind of character you love to hate, kwim?
  • Linda annoys me. I keep looking at her and thinking rent-a-cop

  • Ok, Phil and I were laughing at the scene last week where Big Jim leaves Max's mom floating in the lake. I haven't seen yesterday's episode yet, so I don't know if this went anywhere, but we're like... um, dude, that's like the least sure-fire way of killing someone ever.  It's this tiny little lake lined with houses, in broad daylight, and her legs aren't tied.  All she has to know how to do to not die is float.

    But damn, Barbie is FOINE.

  • Also, the actor who plays Junior is way too beautiful to be a psychopath. He's gorgeous. His mouth!

I always pictured book-Junior looking more like an adolescent Eminem.  Haha!

  • I have thought about this through every episode and I would choose Junior over Barbie any day.  Crazy keeps things interesting. Junior's lips vs. Barbie's rough beard.....

  • I never thought Junior was attractive until last night's episode.  Maybe I was just feeling especially randy last night, but Junior looked really good and there was a scene with Barbie not wearing pants . . .

But still, I'd take the scruffy beard over Junior any day.

This.  And he definitely needs the scruff, he was clean shaven in Pan Am and did nothing for me.

Yeah, I've never seen him in anything else, but I just looked back through some photos on IMDB, and ITA, he looks too baby-faced without the scruff.

He was Johnny Foote in The Help.

And I am not too old to play with Barbies either.
