have y'all tried HIIT training?

Hi Everyone,

I posted a few months ago about wanting to get back into my pre-wedding health & fitness lifestyle, & while I've done a pretty good job of maintaining, I haven't really lost any weight and/or toned back up.

I'm looking to up my workouts, & I've been researching the whole high intensity intervals training thing... have any of you tried it? Have you seen any results? I found some treadmill workouts that I'm going to try, starting tonight. I'm pretty excited about it.

Other than upping my workouts & focusing on consistency with them, I am trying to keep sweets out of my diet during the week & indulge sparingly on the weekends. I have a huge sweet tooth, so indulging in too many treats is a problem for me. Any advice?

Hope y'all are having a great week!

Re: have y'all tried HIIT training?

  • Just make sure it only takes up 20% of your weekly workouts. I do 1 out of 5 workouts in HIIT. They just take so much out of me.
  • I just made a workout schedule for the rest of July last night, & i put them sporadically in the mix, because I've heard they are so exhausting. I think I have them spaced out enough - I'm excited to have something new to put into my routine!
  • Yes! love it, you really do get great results from it & all the PPs are so right, they are exhausting so you can't do them everyday. Cutting out sweets is a great first step :) I personally did most of my HIIT workouts with an at home workout program called Turbo Fire, thats how I was introduced to the whole idea and loved having a plan laid out for me! I lost all of my baby weight using it so I would highly recommend it!

  • HIIT training rocks! I'm currently pregnant, but cannot wait to start my workouts again. HIIT really helped me lose the last little bit I wanted to pre-baby. Don't forget to strength strain though, just because we're women doesn't mean we shouldn't lift or lift heavy! Lifting made me lose more weight than cardio alone, and science backs it up!

  • I like it too!     I'm currently doing a program called Combat.   It has one to two days a week of HIIT, although most workouts do an up and down intensity.

The main thing is finding a program that fits Your personality, then you will stick with it

  • Yes, and they can be brutal. I could barely move my arms for 5 days after my last session. It was 25 minutes of some type of moving plank....ouch!

  • I actually do HITT training, and it is intense! You will definitely see results, as there is no one you would not with such an intense workout. If you want more info on the program I do let me know. You can contact me through here  http://rockitfitnesswithbonnie.com/contact.html if you want to reach me quicker. Good luck with your fitness goals!
