I'm a mom!
Dominic Matthew was born 2 weeks ago on August 20th at 1:46 pm. He weighed 8lbs 5oz and was 21" long.
Contractions started around 5am on the 20th but were very irregular. Around 9:30am I had noticed that over the past approximately 1 hr they were mostly 5 min or less apart but still were pretty irregular. Unfortunately though they were getting more painful. I contacted DH at work and told him what was going on. He said he'd come home and if it turned out to be nothing he could work from home the rest of day. I called the doctors office and explained to the nurse what was going on. She said we could go to the hospital but to be prepared to be sent home if it wasn't the real thing. I said I wanted to go. We got to the hospital around 11am and I was already 9cm dilated! The doctor broke my water a few hours later and I started pushing about 15 min later. Dominic was born after about 20 min of pushing. Luckily it was a fast and fairly easy (although very painful) labor experience.
DH and I feel very lucky and blessed. Dominic is perfect and we love him so much more than we thought possible.
