Need 1st date help - dress me

So, I'm not advertising my dating habits on Facebook and that's where I usually keep up with you ladies so I'm hoping you can help me out on here. I have a lunch date this week. No time to order online. Has to be available in a store for me to buy today or tomorrow. Plus size needed size 20.

Do I wear a dress? Jeans and cute shirt? I am so lost. Haven't been on a real date in over a decade. HELP!

Not sure where I'm going yet. We are hammering out the details but I'm guessing somewhere casual. I would guess a place like Chickie's. Coming from home.

And I was thinking of a summer type dress, not dressy. Not sure if it's too late in the season to still do a light dress?

nah, I'd go with a light dress and if you want to make it a bit less summery maybe you could pull off boots with it? that brings it into fall a bit more. I'm always one to overdress so even if it is casual I'd be a bit more dressy for a first date... and yay how exciting!!!!

Exciting stuff, Shannon! Is he coming from work? Are you coming from work? That would also assist on dressing. If he has a casual job, I would mirror how he will dress so to speak.

When in doubt, I would say to wear a dress. You can easily up the ante on the fancy or make it more casual, depending upon where you are going.

Agree with the casual dress. I usually have good luck at Dress Barn if you need something in hand and plus size. Or nordstrom or nordstrom rack.

I also vote for summer dress but I'm no help on where to go since most places have switched over to fall attire. Good luck and have fun!

First off, yay for a date!! You better come back with details of how it went. Second, I agree with pps. A dress and cardi with some cute shoes and accessories is the way to go.

Thanks for all the help and Julie you are too sweet! Sadly, this guy seemed very promising but has dropped off the face of the earth. I'm not sitting around waiting for him to call me. Ain't no one got time for that!

I agree and unless there is a good reason why (family emergency) it is better that he showed his true colors now and not later!
