How MM was your weekend? Also, Sept. goals?
So I'm doing a twofer... How was your holiday weekend money wise? And any goals for September?
Re: How MM was your weekend? Also, Sept. goals?
Friday- $230 for Costco (budgeted in for the month)
Saturday- 0 for me, $20 for DH getting drinks at a wedding though there was free booze. I tell you...
Sunday- $ 17 for me for lunch and some knickknacks while out with friends
Monday- $20 for dinner
$1 for Redbox
$25 for water shoes
Our September goals, though, are that we took out all of our fun money in cash and once it's gone, we are done for the month, so every single thing we spent money on this weekend, except Costco, came from our individual fun money. So hopefully that works better for this month because we have been really bad for the past few months!
So- weekend total, Me- $32, DH- $51, food-$230- total, $313
Friday - $0
Saturday - $40. Dinner and drinks out with friends.
Sunday - $78 groceries
Monday - $25 lunch. $18 Target
Total $161. Not bad at all!
Our goals for September will continue the same as August.
We live in a very rural area so going to the store takes a half an hour drive.
1. Only go into town every ten days to save gas.
2. Only eat out every ten days when we go into to town
3. Pay at least $1,250 on DH student loans this month
If we can do all of these things we will be in great shape for this month and probably will be able to pay more on the SL than we are planning.

Friday-$140 at Target getting bedding, underwear, prizes for potty training my son. We also moved him to a new big boy bed that the ILs gave us.
Saturday-$0, stayed home and potty trained
Sunday-$340 for new flat screen tv. Our current one started to turn into a radio so since it was labor day we got one for $130 off. It is a 40" screen and fit into our budget of under $400. We paid for this and the Target out of savings that we have.
Monday-$0, went and visited my parents.
Goals for September: to have money left in our E-fund. I am getting a sleep study done this week and MW is doing a surgery consult for getting her gall bladder out.
Friday-$85 at Home Depot for home repair stuff (budgeted for)
Saturday -$130 at Costco (monthly shopping trip--budgeted for), plus $5 at the farmer's market for some roasted pecans (couldn't help myself, they smelled amazing!) and $10 at Starbucks for DH and I (yay for pumpkin spice lattes!)
Sunday-$0, we stayed home and played board games
Monday -$0, we had plans to go out with friends but those fell through so we stayed home
Our goal for this month is to convince our insurance to cover the cost of a new roof so I only have to pay the $1000 deductible instead of the ~$6000 the contractors want for a new roof and gutters. The full price will take about a third of our e-fund that I would rather hold on to, lol.
Goal #2 is to stay under budget with gifts for the month. I always struggle in September because it is a busy month for us and I love buying presents for people (Dh's birthday, our anniversary, my mom's birthday, god-son's birthday and SIL's birthday). You'd think I would have learned to set money aside in preparation for all this since it happens every year, but somehow it all manages to sneak up on me every single year!
Friday: $0 stayed home and baked
Saturday: $18 on beer/drinks and brought it over to our friends house for dinner
Sunday: $2 at the gas station for a drink
Monday: $45: $20 spending for cupcakes & drinks in Plymouth, $23 for gas
My September goal is to start my Efund. H should be starting his new job in the next few weeks so we are hoping to pay the minimums and start the fund. I also want to tighten our budget in a few areas to help us get through the next few weeks. H has gained a few pounds since we got married and wants to start eating healthier, which is great for me too in the grocery areas. I'll just spend less on junk and make my own snacks.
