I'll try to give the short version of this really long story.
Almost a year ago I had to go off BC because I kept swelling up and my doctor thought I had developed an allergy to the hormones. I went off of it in November and everything was going great.
A week ago on Monday I woke up and my eyes were super puffy. I stepped in the scale and had gained 12lbs overnight. I went into the doctor the next day and they told me to just take more antihistamines and gave me a steriod if that didn't work. I tried what they said and on Saturday I was up 7 more pounds! I had random ademas all over and my body looked like a reflection from a fun house mirror. I panicked and DH took me to the hospital.
They did some testing and it turns out that my kidneys aren't working right, and I'm peeing out more protein than I am absorbing. (Sorry for the crudeness) I have to follow up with a specialist and have a kidney biopsy done this week. The ER doctor thinks my immune system is actually fighting my own kidneys! I'm so terrified and emotional right now. I hope it's not too much to ask all of you to keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.
It's been a crazy few months. DH had a lymphoma scare in May. It turned out to be something else minor. I'm hoping our luck stays on the same path and that after this everything will be better.
