NBR: Candy Crush

I'm not sure if everybody is still as addicted as I am but I figured I'd share:  http://www.buzzfeed.com/ariellecalderon/disappointing-facts-about-candy-crush

  • :-O I didn't even think about #8!  So far I haven't spent a dime on it.  I'm on level 167, I think.  I've been play since March.

Yeah, I would never have thought of that. I'm on level 350 and haven't spent a single cent on this game. I can't figure out why people would actually pay for it.

    I've paid for it =X

But, in my defense.. it was only $4. And it would have been $2 if I had been observant enough to notice they gave you power ups also.  Dumbest moment of my life, I think.

I had played the same level for literally two months and I finally gave in and paid the .99 cents. When the extra moves didn't help me pass the level (here's where the stupidity kicks in because I didn't notice that I had the lollipop too) I paid ANOTHER .99 cents to get my last candy. I did this a second time a few months later on another level. The second time, when I noticed I had the lollipop, I threw my phone on the floor in anger.

I normally NEVER give in to buying extras in games. I haven't played it in awhile. Once I deactivated my FB, I couldn't get free lives/tickets anymore so I just gave up all together.
  • I don't want it linked to my FB, so I pay for more levels every now and then.  I've also paid for boosts twice, I think.  When my 5 lives run out, I put it down until they refill.  For me, paying $1 for levels on candy crush is the equivalent of stopping for a coffee on the way home from work - a tiny splurge that I normally wouldn't spend, but totally worth it.  I'm maybe $8 into this game now.  I'm on level 154.
  • I am indeed addicted to this game. Right now i'm waiting for the iPhone app to add levels. I beat it and am stuck at 410 until they add more. I know there are more on the computer, but I don't like playing it on my laptop. I refuse to pay any $ for this game when you can play for free. I don't understand how it makes so much money. Most of my friends/family who get stuck on a level just have me play it until I beat it. Much cheaper this way!

  • I've been playing this game since it came out and may or may not have spent a total of about $20 on it.  I try not to spend money on it but sometimes I'll be stuck on a really hard level for a few weeks and if I can clearly see that I'll pass it within a couple moves then I'll splurge on the $1 for the extra moves.  I waste enough money on stupid things (trying to stop that btw) that the occasional dollar to save my sanity doesn't seem so bad.
I'm up to 409 at the moment.

I've done this a couple times too.  I've probably spent $10-$15.  It's been awhile since I've needed to do that. (Although I've been stuck at 199 for awhile... a$$hole level!)
  • I'm still playing.  Right now I'm on level 103 but I haven't bought anything on it yet.  I'll usually play another game while I wait for my lives to regenerate or read then play.  DH gave up on it because he said they are making the levels too hard now so that you have to buy things.  I told him he just wasn't good enough at it. ;)

you'll change your turn when you hit 140. that's the level I quit on.
a friend of mine was able to get past it, but i'm convinced she paid to do so.
  • I refuse to pay a cent for it. I let it connect to Facebook, but I refuse to let it post. Everything CandyCrush on my Timeline is restricted to "only me." However, I recognize my fellow addict friends and hit them up for tickets when I need them!

I followed the link on Buzzfeed to this old post. Spot on.
Sprinkles are little bits of hope and joy, and that damn chocolate gives me nightmares. Especially when it EATS a sprinkle candy!  X(

  • I've been stuck on the same level for months (MONTHS!).  I don't play it much anymore, but it's a good quick game when I'm waiting in line or something.  I've never paid for anything.

I see you there. I was in shock to see that I caught up to you, now I understand why. I get so frustrated even trying it that I usually only use a life or two before turning it off, damn bombs get me every time.

Edit:  I just realized that I passed 409 and I'm on 410. This is the one that kills me just trying to play it, kinda makes me wish I was back on any other board.
