Portrait ideas?

Has anyone ever bought or thought about buying a custom portrait online, and if so what did kind of portrait were you looking for?
The reason for asking is that I'm looking for new ideas for producing portraits to sell as gifts and wanted to 'brainstorm' ideas to maybe find something a little different or new.
I currently draw traditional pencil portraits of people, children, pets etc and the style is a mixture of traditional sketch and photorealistic. What events in life could make a portrait a great gift idea? How much are people willing to pay? What style do people look for?
Looking forward to sharing ideas from other artist and non-artist
