Thunder and Lightning

So I love love love thunder and lightning. It is going crazy outside right now and getting louder and closer and I just want to go lay outside in the rain and watch it all play out.

BUT...I am not going to sleep at all tonight because I am convinced it is going to wake Ava Nichol up and I am listening after each thunder to see if this is the one that wakes her. Also, our poor dog is losing it. He is having a panic attack. We have him calmed down and managed to get him to take some benadryl so hopefully he can calm down and maybe even sleep.

This just isn't fun anymore.

  • Would your dog let you wrap him in a blanket? It sound strange, I know, but maybe the weight of the blanket would help him feel secure?

  • DH finally showed him some compassion and cuddled with him until he calmed down and the meds helped him sleep. The storm calmed down around midnight finally!

It was an awful night. Ava Nichol went to sleep at 8 and we went to bed at 9. She woke up at 930, 10, 11 and midnight. And I didn't feel comfortable letting her cry it out because she was being startled awake by the thunder so she needed to be calmed down and tucked back in. I can't tell you whyshe decided 615 was a good wake up for the day time though. She normally sleeps until 730. Ugh.

    At least it is Friday!
