There are still nice people in the world
I went to the gym, then the supermarket this morning. Water was on sale, so I bought 2 cases. When I was taking them out of the cart to put in my car, my wedding ring got caught between the water case and cart. When I looked down, one of my diamonds fell out!
I was looking and one person asked me what I was doing. She looked for about 30 seconds, then wished me luck and got in her car. A few minutes later, an older woman asked what I was looking for. I told her and she immediately helped. Another woman soon joined us. They checked my cart, trunk and water case again, suggested moving out of my spot in case it fell under my car, and continued looking. I had called my mom immediately and she came right over. She thought I was in the store and called when she was walking in. I got off the phone with her and couple came to help.
I thought I found it but couldn't get it out of a crack. The man had a knife that he pulled out and we dug out what turned out to be glass. I looked up and saw my mom and called her over. One of the women found it! It was in a deeper crack that we used the knife to dig it out, but it was too deep. This man also had tape in his car. We were able to get the stone onto the knife blade, then he stuck it with the tape. I was so relieved. I was also thankful that 2 two women took about 20 minutes out of their day to help me. I was thankful that this man had a bag of tricks. I had nothing to offer any of them beside thanks, but that seemed to be enough for all of them.
As soon as everyone walked away and it was just my mom and I, I cried. I know it's a small diamond, but it was part of the ring H gave me at our wedding. I don't think that's something that's replaceable. H will be home soon because we have to go to his cousin's house for Rosh Hashana. I will tell him when he comes home from work. He's working on stuff for a big client at work and I don't think this is important enough to interrupt him. Tomorrow, I will go to the jeweler to have it fixed, I just hope they're open from the holiday.
Re: There are still nice people in the world
That is so good to hear that there are people like that. I feel like there really aren't that many out there. I am glad that you were able to find the stone. I think that I would have cried too just like you did.
My eyes got a bit misty reading your story! I'm so glad you were able to find it and those people were so nice to help you. I lost one of the diamonds in my e-ring right after the wedding. I was so upset!
