C-Section Underwear

Hey Philly Nesties! Has anyone used C-Pantys for their recovery after having a C-Section? If so, were they helpful and what brand did you buy? Thanks!

Re: C-Section Underwear

  • I have had two and didn't use anything special. I did use the mesh ones from the hospital for a few days. Get a few pairs to bring home with you.

  • For my section I found the mesh unbearable and they even at one point caught on my staples. AWFUL. I bought some maternity underwear from motherhood and used those as they went up high to avoid area.

If the ones you posted provide support and tightness might be gret for your back!
  • I used the mesh from the hospital but I didn't have staples, just stitches.

  • I also used the mesh ones the hospital gave me. I didn't have staples either though.

  • I loved mesh undies the hospital provided. Plus your vag bleeds so much you really don't want to spend $$ on whatever you put down there!

  • Thank you everyone! I'll be sure to get the mesh ones from the hospital and try this first before buying the c-Pantys.
  • I used the mesh for a day or two after being discharged, but then I found I wanted to be in real underwear.  I bought some Fruit of the Loom undies in a size bigger during pregnancy, so I just ended up using those.  They were so cheap (like 4 for $10ish)  that I didn't care if I ruined them with all the pp bleeding.

  • Ditto Tracy. I had a c/s and wore the mesh ones until I went home. Then it was granny panties all the way.
  • I used cheapo high waisted panties that I didn't care about getting ruined.  I'm on the heavier side and didn't care for the mesh.  The one thing I wish I had at the time was a compression type underwear.  Even a pair of Spanx I think would help because you feel like you have no muscles in that area.  Although thinking back, I cant imagine wiggling into Spanx.  I think they make post partum compression bands or wraps.  They would be worth checking out.

I used one for this past child birth and it was worth it's weight in GOLD!! It helped my back and also helped with my nerve pain.

  • I asked the nurse to load me up with the mesh ones and wore them for a few days after going home. I swore I'd never be able to stand up again or do anything normal haha.

The hospital will give you one that you can take home with you if you ask for it. They're pretty great. As for pads, I actually bought a box of Depends Silhouette. They're way more comfortable than you'd imagine and kinda perfect for csections once you get past the fact that you're wearing an adult diaper.
