Breast leaking is it normal (TMI)

I try not to sleep on my stomach at night but sometimes I end up that way. Well yesterday I noticed that my boobs were super sore and felt so swollen. Last night I woke up and I was on my stomach and when I got up to go pee I had a puddle of fluid where my left boob was. So my question is it normal to start leaking at 24 weeks?

I know this is a stupid question but please help. :)

  • yes. of course. they're gearing up to produce milk, remember?

i'm starting to wonder if the old GPM'ers need to return to the board because who is left seem to be so unaware of the normal sides of pregnancy. mucus plugs, boob leakage, etc...it's all normal and not TMI.
Thanks to our wonderful RE our family is complete!

  • Totally normal! Some women start leaking early in pregnancy and some never leak until their milk comes in.

  • Yep.  Completely normal and nothing to be concerned about.

So, people shouldn't feel like they can come here with questions, no matter how 'normal' they may seem?

    THANK YOU, @caseyandlizzie !

Boob leakage and loss of mucus plug may be normal but it can be scary and alarming, especially in the early stages of pregnancy.  These are totally acceptable questions and ones that I would think all FTMs want to ask about (even FTMs who are knowledgeable about pregnancy and their bodies.)

This board is not all about baby pictures and nursery decorating, and I wouldn't want it that way.

I remember the good ol' days when even you were asking questions that you "should have known." Come on, CCH, do you honestly think this was a fair response? You have always known and never needed to ask what is normal and what is not? Even when the answers should have been "obvious?" Give me a break.
You mean there was a time when even CCH was a newb?!

    Mind. Blown.

  • My boobs didnt leak that early, but it seems like it might be normal. Just going to throw it out there that I slept on my stomach my entire pregnancy. My BFF who is an OB was surprised that I did, bc shed never heard of anyone doing that, but said there is no medical reason to not sleep on your stomach. So if you wake up on your stomach, no worries.

  • I didn't have any leakage but my SIL started leaking around that time. Also, my doc said that I could sleep on my stomach until it became uncomfortable to me. It got to a point where I no longer wanted to sleep on my stomach.

  • The (exaggerated in every way) video we watched at my first birthing class last week said, "You may even experience leaking from your breasts around starting around 36 weeks!"

I huffed at that because I've had some here and there since around 27 weeks. It comes and goes for me but it was enough to show up on my shirt once.

  • Mine didn't leak that early. I want to say around 34 weeks? Maybe 35? I was both freaked out and fascinated, lol.

If you are worried, give a call to your OB.
