Hi Alicia!

Does anyone else have trouble updating their signature? Mine somehow reverted to a picture I used months ago and despite it saving the code correctly when I tried to change it, it's not updated.

I love fall. I love cooler weather.

A painter has started work in our house this morning! There are 3 rooms that we haven't ever gotten around to painting in the 6 years we've lived here. All the ceilings and trim need to be painted as well. We'd love to do it ourselves, but just don't have the time, so we're finally having it done so we can enjoy the house while we live in it!

I have no idea how it's been 8 months since DD was born. She's really interactive now and on the verge of crawling and it's just plain awesome to see her and DS play together. It's non-stop laughter.

  • And, to continue replying to your post...

I love the colors and cooler weather of autumn, but I always get in a funk around this time of year. October is worse than September, but I am trying my best to not let it affect me like that this year. Despite the fact that the 2013 calendar is the same as the 2002 one, and therefore my terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day is on the same day of the week that it was then... I am going to make the most of this, and my children's new experiences, rather than rehashing the past in my mind. I hope.

Yay for getting your house painted!!!  We've been in this house for 8 years, and have only painted the kids' rooms. Everything else is pretty much painter white. Boring! Someday, I hope to completely do-over this whole house, since we likely will be here forever.

I love, love, love your kids! I can't believe that your DD is already 8mos! And, how is big brother doing? Big hugs from my kids to yours, and from me to you :)

  • Ahh, thank you! Siggy fixed on the nest. I'll try the same link but for the bump instead to hopefully fix that one. Why aren't they the same anymore?

Hoping to get some good updated photos of the kids soon. I've been that typical parent of 2 kids and slacked way more on photos of DD than I ever did at this age with DS. Hopefully I'll have a more fun siggy pic in the near future :)

Our kids' rooms are by far the most complete. The other 2 bedrooms have been painted at least. Kitchen has been updated and bathroom painted. At the end of this, I won't be ashamed to have people over anymore! I don't mind plain white so much, but the awful totally not my style wallpaper is just embarassing. Especially when people know we've done so much work on the house, but the rooms you see when you visit were the ones we haven't touched!

DS is doing really really well. He's a total chatterbox now, doing well in school (most days) and has started potty training. We're far from the end of PT, but he'll go in his potty at home and at school and mostly I think it's my laziness of not asking him to try every hour or two that keeps us from making progress. We've got more than 6 months until he needs to be PT, so I'm not really motivated to do it yet. There's not much difference between 1 and 2 kids in diapers. He adores his sister. It's totally adorable. He gives her hugs and kisses constantly and is pretty good in general about sharing toys with her. He gets mad when she tries to steal something of his, but he's stopped yanking it back and will ask for help and offer her a different toy to play with instead! I'm honestly shocked at how well the transition from 1-2 has gone. 0-1 was so much harder.

I feel so incredibly good today. Yesterday I was outside in the sun for almost 2 hours running a BBQ for my department at work. Being outside always helps my mood. Plus, I got 8.5 hours of sleep last night. DD has been waking up every hour or two at night for a week, but last night she fussed once at 1:30am, but slept until 3:30, ate, slept until 5:15 and ate, then slept until 6:15. I walked into her room when I heard her cooing to get her dressed for daycare and she was sitting up! She's been sitting up on her own for a while, but this is the first time she's gone from laying to sitting on her own. And she did it without fussing or getting frustrated at all. So exciting!

How are your kids' school years going so far? Is DS loving preschool?

  • You're welcome. I don't know why the Nest & Bump siggies are different now, but it probably has something to do with the changes they've made across the platforms. People may want a different siggy on the Nest than on the Bump, especially if they're involved in more active, national boards.

School year is going great! DD loves her teacher, and has transitioned to full-day K with no issues. She likes riding the bus like the big kids. She did have to miss a couple days of school because of a fluke fever (got her checked by the pedi, and she was fine, we just had to wait it out), but she's back at school now.

As for DS, he was a little disappointed that he only goes to school two days per week. Ha! He has the same teachers that DD had last year, and several of his classmates are the younger siblings of kids from DD's class. We love this preschool! From the moment I pick him up after school, he's recounting everything he did in the three hours he was there.
