New pg test?

Have you ladies seen the new ClearBlue Digital tests? They claim to be able to include on the screen how many weeks along one is if the result is positive.

What do you think?

I have a picture of the ad I saw in the paper today but the nest hates me and won't upload.

  • Can someone who is KU'd buy this and see if it's right? Like someone who's like really far along? Would it read like 20 weeks or something?

Looks like it only indicates if you are 3+ weeks.

  • Boo! I want it to say 20 or like 13.... you know. Be awesome.

Otherwise, I don't see the point in knowing how many weeks via pee.

  • We have these in Canada already! They only go up to 3+ weeks but they count from O not your LMP. So if it says 2 weeks, you're really 4 etc.

I used one with my first BFP and it was accurate compared to my beta #.

  • @ecinereb That makes more sense. The ad I saw showed 1-2 weeks and I was totally confused. Do you determine due dates based off of O then? Or does it clarify that 1-2 weeks means post O, not 1-2 weeks pregnant?

I'm pretty sure in the instructions it said something to the effect of the weeks are counted 'from conception' not from LMP or something like that.
I've used my O date from charting in the past instead of LMP because I have long cycles so it's more accurate.

Cinnabun and Junebug say, "Go Wildcats!"

  • I also used one of these because I made Alan get them for me when he was in Canada because I really wanted to pee on something Canadian. They are super expensive, but they were accurate. I wouldn't use them until I got a positive on a FRER.

    I just really like Canada.
  • These tests make me irate. They are just adding to how uninformed women are about their bodies. You wouldnt get a + on any test but an opk at 2w pregnant!!!

  • So wait a minute. It takes me around 3 1/2 weeks just to O. Does that mean I'd be 5 1/2 weeks pregnant by the time I took a test 2 weeks past O??
    (Forgive my idiot-brained question.)

I think most doctors use LMP to determine dating.  Until you had an ultrasound, you'd appear to be farther along than what you really are.  Because 2 weeks past O, your baby is going to be the same size as someone who has a 28 day cycle. They would adjust it based on your ultrasound.  Which is why many women with long cycles lie about their LMP when they visit the OB.  THey just go back two weeks from O and give them that date.

  • I just think it's stupid.  It's like, maybe it's helpful for people who got KU on accident and don't really know when their period was supposed to show.  For the rest of us infertiles, we'd know within a week of missing AF and know approx how long we'd been pregnant.  Maybe I'm just overly sensitive today.  I doubt I would ever need it. Just sayin

Agreed completely. I'm annoyed that more women aren't educated about their bodies - IF, TTC or not.

So... I totally imagine this being part of some woman's "baby daddy" evidence on the Maury show. "I am one million percent sure he is the baby daddy because we had sex two weeks before and the test said '2 weeks PG'. I had sex with his friend three weeks before, so he isn't the baby daddy..."

maybe i just have a wild imagination.
