Back from my neuro appt (long)
I had a mid-pregnancy neuro appointment today.
We didn't even discuss my epilepsy. She focused on my headaches and did a couple tests to check if they are in fact complex migraines.
She found a section in my neck that is hypertensioned and she thinks that plus the hormone and medication change is causing the severity and frequency.
However, she warned me that the hypertension in my neck could also be a red flag that I am at risk to develop eclampsia later in my pregnancy (not sure how that works. My blood pressure was a little higher than normal but nothing catastrophic).
After I deliver, she wants to write me a prescription for morphine for my migraines since I've been a migraine sufferer all of my life. They usually put me out of commission for an entire day and she thinks that's because the excedrin migraine isn't fully addressing the symptoms, just the auras and minimally subduing pain to the point where I can function. The memory loss concerns her.
I rather not have the morphine, but if that's what it takes to not have this happen again, then that's what I'll do.
This week is awesome. *sarcasm*

Regarding the migraines, maybe you guys could talk about other options before moving on to morphine. Maybe do some personal research on other meds and remedies and bring them up. I can tell you that Excedrin migraine doesn't even touch my migraines. I don't take it because it doesn't help. I am fioricet and it is working for now but the disc gave me imitrex to try instead. Well imitrex made me feel awful and it turns out it is sulfa based so that might have something to do with it. Anyway, I think there are more options and you have some time to do some research and go in informed.

We also have to be careful of interactions with my AED. I'm going to see if I can find any information on what else might work.

Also, I hope you get relief even if it is with morphine. You gotta do what ya gotta do.
