WIJFR: Catching Fire (ns)

Just finished Catching Fire. So sorry to those of you who read these books when they first came out. I thought book 1 was a cliffhanger, but man the one at the end of this is almost inhumane. At least this book wasn't spoiled for me though. I'm still not over that.

Off to start book 3, but I was curious if there are any other books you've read that ended with cliffhangers? I'm not a fan unless the next book is already out.

  • Have you read the Outlander series? Most of the books don't end with unbearable cliffhangers (there are 1 or 2 early on) BUT the last one is just cruel.

  • Also, Catching Fire is maybe the only book that I very distinctly remember the last line word for word.

  • Catching Fire is the reason I DO NOT read the 2nd book in a trilogy. I'll read the first one to see if I'll love the series, but when all the hoopla is surrounding the second book's release, I pay no attention.

I still haven't read Insurgent.  I love me some Four, but I'm willing to wait for Allegiant.

You totes have some self control. I could not wait to keep going on either series.

  • I'm so glad I didn't jump on the HG train until Mockingjay was released.  I wouldn't have been able to handle Catching Fire's cliffhanger.

  • The cliffhanger at the end of Dreamfever in the fever series is like that. Inhumane. I thought my nook was broken when I tried to turn the page and there was no more book.

I almost threw my Nook when I read the ending of Dreamfever.  Thank goodness that Shadowfever came out the day before I finished Dreamfever.

I just re-read it for the first time in two years and my heart is aching.

  • @mrsvedo - I have not read Outlander, but I would freak out waiting so long in between those books' release dates if there were cliffhangers lol.
