Hi all! :)

Hello everyone!

So I'm totally taking a page from @SapphireCounselor - credit to her!

I'm a fresh newlywed who is just trying to start off in the married community as best as I can guess how to. I've used message boards before but have been away for years, it's a little nerve-wracking getting back into it!

A little bit about me - I'm living in Ventura County in California but I'm originally from San Francisco. I came down for school and just never left! I'm a project manager in the telecom industry in Thousand Oaks, CA. My husband and I live in the home I bought about a year ago with our furry baby Oliver, who is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. I'm a huge foodie - I love cooking new things and I LOVE entertaining. I am also a gigantic sports fanatic - you name it, I watch it, but hockey is my 1st love. That's actually how my husband and I met! Even our wedding was hockey themed! Besides that, I love projects, organizing, and most of all, connecting with people, which is why I'm here in the first place.

And now, a little about you...? :)

I'm very glad to meet you all!

Anniversary

Re: Hi all! :)

  • Hey Mahlissah,

I'm Ida:) I also am in the process of building a community of newly married women. So nice to meet you. Do you have a blog or page for us to link up with you on?

I'm originally from Atlanta, but have lived in West Africa, and UK as well. Met my hubby in the UK. Background in Marketing, but now blogging, voice acting, singing, basically entertaining:) It would be so cool to link up (digitally)!!!

  • DH and I just celebrated our first anniversary a couple weeks ago- time has flown by! I think I've finally adjusted from leaving my home province and family behind to move to a new city with my husband. DH and I are both university students and he's also in the military. I'm studying my B.A. in history with plans to get my B. Ed. in early years education afterwards.

I'm also a big hockey fan (saw your response on the hockey post)... go Winnipeg Jets! DH is  trying to teach me the rules of football so I'm less confused when we watch haha, it's one of the sports I never got into but he used to play and is a big fan. I grew up playing a lot of sports and I've always loved watching the Olympics because they inspired me.

  • mahlissah  Nice to meet you! As you know, I'm fairly new to the board and a brand-new newlywed too. :)

  • Hi Welcome! I'm new to the boards also. I've been married for a little over two years. Does that count as a newlywed? We live in the Washington, DC metro area. We live in a cute garden complex condo with our Cardigan Welsh Corgi! Nice to meet you!
  • Hello. I am an old married lady, almost 3 years. Live in West Michigan (that's right, Michigan's west coast). Just bought a house in February. it has been a TON of work, but it's still pretty great. I'm a nurse. Not big into sports, but I do love my Red Wings. My BFF lives in SF, I was just out there this past spring. What a beautiful place! However, she can't get a tiny room for twice what we pay for a house! We have a old Boston Terrier, he's adorable. And naughty. I don't know if he can't hear, or if we're just suckers.
  • Wow! I'm overwhelmed by the responses!

chrisnjay05212010 - Your babies are adorable!! Ben is sooo handsome! I've only been to the NY area twice, but I absolutely loved each time I went. I have a friend from highschool that actually just permanently relocated there, so I'll have to plan my 3rd trip haha. We actually had a Stanley Cup Cake as well!

aimindahouse - I actually do not have a blog... yet. haha! I was thinking about starting one, but haven't quite decided. It's so cool that you've been and lived in so many places! Sounds a bit like my husband except he only moved around the US :) Favorite place so far that you've lived/been?

GilliC - I've been trying to figure out how to put a picture on here... but I can't figure it out! Every time I press that tree button to insert a picture it wants a link, but I don't know a good photo upload site that I could use to have a link. Maybe photobucket? If you (or anyone else) knows, I'd jump on it, I'd love to share my cutie pie!

amandamarie2 - Which province did you used to live in and where are you now? Fellow hockey fan, I love it!! Hockey season is almost upon us! I'm impressed that you and your husband are both students... I can't imagine being a student and starting this whole new phase of life. Where do you guys study? And congrats on your anniversary!!

SapphireCounselor - Hello officially! Hehe. Yes, you and I are pretty much in the same boat except you have a few months on me :) But I'm looking forward to seeing/speaking to you around here!!

lennyandthomas - Hello! A little over 2 years! Congrats! I think that counts as newlywed... I say under 5 years can technically count as Newlywed. Or maybe under 3. But either way you would count :) I'd love to see a picture of your Corgi!! What's his/her name?

Sillygirl45 - Hi! Lol about your Boston Terrier! He's probably super smart which gets him into trouble... at least thats how it is with Oliver. Then he plays the "oh but I'm so cute, look, I'll cuddle with you and you'll forgive me" card hahaha. So I guess I'm the sucker! You're 100% right about SF prices, it's increeedddible what the difference is. Congrats on your new home! And a pleasure to meet you :)

You all are so sweet, I'm so glad I decided to take the jump and post this and get to know some of you!

But again - about the picture thing - if someone can help me figure it out that'd be amazing LOL

  • I would have to say the US is the best place I've ever lived. I love the other places and love to travel, but there's no place like the USA. Maybe I say this cuz its home:) :D

  • I can't help you with the picture thing. Hopefully you figure it out or someone can help ya.

H and I are going on our 2 year wedding anniversary in October. We've been together for almost 12 years. Have one cat and I'm still waiting on my corgi puppy. Jealous of the ladies who have such wonderful corgi fur babies! We live in Texas and I love it. Only I wish we had more of a true fall.

I actually feel the most at home in Norway! I guess that's why I've stayed for so long. I'm starting to think that I will likely never move back to the US, which feels a bit strange.

Thanks! My husband and I are both originally from a small town in Manitoba and now we're living in Ontario. I study at Queen's University and my husband is at Royal Military College. Being students has its own challenges but considering the length of time it's going to take to finish our degrees (and second degree in my case) it would have been a long time to wait so we decided to just go for it. Our programs are somewhat similar (history and politics) so we help each other study.
