  I think a good idea would be tickets to an event (sporting, etc.) that you can go to together is a nice idea, along with dinner or lunch somewhere.

  I saw this somewhere (pinterest maybe?). What about if you write 60 things you love about him/amazing things he's done. Can be done in a card, post it notes, fortune cookie type ideas. If you're crafty, this may come in handy for you.

  For my dad's 60th birthday, I found this idea on Nothing but Bonfires' blog through pinterest and had to do it! I contacted all of our family members and his friends and had them write a letter about their favorite memory about my father so that I had 60 letters. I compiled them all into a book for him to read through. It was such a joy to see his face when reading the stories. And since I wanted to give him something a little extra, my brother and I decided to get him a subscription to Businessweek magazine since he is always reading up on the latest business news. If your father is anything like mine, he might like that too.
