How to Support an Author’s New Book
I love this article. Can I send to all my friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, guy who bags my groceries, mailman, in-laws, everyone in my email contact list, and the first lady?
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.
Re: How to Support an Author’s New Book
It feels like to me that you are just here to promote your book. You disappeared forever and only came back when you found out you were getting published. And you are pimping your book hard. All the time.
And I know you are excited and I know your book is on your mind every second, but I feel like the constant mentions are just a bit much.
Had you been here all along and were super active in the community, maybe I would feel differently... But I've got to tell you, your reason for being here feels less than genuine.

52 Books in 2014??

My sweet babies:

The fact that it was someone being published (and alludes to their book A LOT) that posted this blog entry gives the post a squicky feeling. It looks like the intent of posting was to have this board support their book in these ways. If someone that is not a published author had posted it in support of the board's authors in general, I wouldn't have an issue with it.

I came back here long before I knew about any agent or book deal, but wasn’t actively posting. I believe I first posted when I discovered the writer’s board. I was excited to have somewhere to talk about writing with familiar people. I grew comfortable here again, feeling like I was back amongst friends.
Most of my posts were on the writer’s board. They were about writing. I hope that’s not mistaken as pimping my book. When that board was removed, I posted more on NBC. Of all my posts that weren’t on the writer’s board (or in a designated writing post since then), only two posts mention my book. I know I chimed in heavily on the FF posts which indirectly mention my book. That’s because it’s personal to me. It’s not propaganda. There is no hidden agenda here.
Even this article, in particular, what not meant as an instructional guide for you to pimp my book. Someone shared it with me. I shared it on my FB page and immediately thought to share it here. I thought it was clever and covered things I’d never thought about before. I thought about how there are two other authors here with books coming out soon and what a great list of ideas in how to support them. But, because I tried to be funny, related it to me, and I’m an author, this sounded like personal book promotion.
I came here to discuss books, to hear what like-minded people are reading, to discover the latest must-reads, to celebrate small victories, to talk about writing, to be distracted by stupid gifs, to read shared articles, to disagree on reviews, to obsess about everything Harry Potter, to answer polls, to chime in on completely non-book-related posts, to make fun of bad grammar, to discuss book to film adaptations... not to pimp my book.
You’re right. I am excited about my book. And it is on my mind every waking second. It has completely consumed my life. Apparently, that means I associate every thought, idea and interest with it. I’m sorry if that translated to my posts and/or replies. I apologize if you all felt like I was shoving it down your throat. It was not my intention.
You’re tired of hearing about it. Note taken.
