wwgpm do?

Dh and I live currently in a 1br/1bath apartment in a lease until 6/14. We have very little space. I have found a 2br/2bath townhouse for 75$ per month more that I really want to look at but I know there will be some expense involved in getting out of a lease if it is even possible. We didn't know I was pregnant when we put down our deposit and we got stuck before we found out about the baby. Now we are really worried about space. Would you look into getting out of the lease or would you stick it out until June? Idk what to do. I really want more space but dh doesn't want the hassle of breaking a lease.

Before investing any time go talk to your landlord. I was an apartment manager for years. If someone would have come to me with that story I would have let them out of their lease when I got someone else in. In that case you would have had to pay double rent for a week or two. You never know, there could be a waiting list for your place.

  • I would probably stick it out. Jmo. The baby likely will sleep in your room for the first few months.

I would definitely talk to the landlord before deciding anything. If you can easily get out of the lease then go for it. If getting out of the lease would be a hassle then stick it out until June.

  • I spoke with the rental's listing agent and it won't work for us anyways. The homeowner wants to keep it listed for sale while renting and continue showing the house so we are not interested in that. We may try to upgrade to a 2bedroom apartment but that costs more. Out bedroom now is very small.

  • I'd probably stick it out until your lease is up in June, depending on when you're due.

  • LO was in our bedroom in a RNP until about 4 months old. we really didn't need the space for LO. i hadn't done his room so none of that was used until we moved him out of our room. we didn't have a regular swing (had a car seat frame swing), no bouncer, none of that stuff. we could have, but i found it unnecessary (true, for us). LO didn't take up any room. and we only decided to get a bigger place when we had to relocate and knew that we were quickly getting to a point where LO would be crawling and cruising. he didn't actually begin to crawl until 10 months so it's only recent that the space has been helpful.
