  • Eh they're probably just excited. They want to show the baby off, maybe they think they won't get another chance for awhile.

Is it something I would do? Probably not. It seems a little strange to me, but to each their own.

I'm sorry that you're so upset about it. It sounds like it ruined your night - That sucks. Hope you're able to relax at home and enjoy the rest of your weekend. Don't let them spoil it!

  • I would think that going home to bond with your baby would be the most important thing on your mind.  That and making sure the child feels safe and is in a soothing environment.  But what do I know? I'm just a sad infertile who wants to take their baby away from them. Aaaarrggghhh!

I could definitely understand popping over to say hi with excitement, but to stay for several hours?

  • Sore, yes, but not unable to get around. I missed the details but meh. Playing drinking games is much, but it's not much different from going home and having a couple of drinks. The first week or so are the easiest and all the baby will do is sleep, so it's the best time for anyone to go out with the baby really. I'm not sure what being outside has to do with anything, but again, I missed the details. We obviously didn't go out when we got home but I can understand it in part.
Thanks to our wonderful RE our family is complete!

  • I haven't deleted all the details yet, but I would rather spend my first night at home with baby in a rocking chair reading a book and singing lullabies than going to a drinking party in the cool, fall air. But that's just me. Maybe my months going on years of dreaming about that first night home are way out of what's normal for the first night home. I just know that my heart was breaking for that tiny, precious child, and it broke for our own situation. I guess it's a FFC that I hardcore judge anyone who brings a newborn to a drinking party.

  • Umm...I would never bring a newborn out at 2 days old around a ton of people. I'm not a germophobe by any stretch, but I think it's extreme to be going out and about unnecessarily in the first few weeks.

  • These people sound like idiots. I actually think the freedom party was way worse but the fact that they followed up with this is sad. It sounds like one or both of them are totally mentally unprepared to be parents and that's just sad for the kid. I would totally side eye this behavior.

  • I saw the details last night but fell asleep before I could post. I had an old co-worker that brought her baby straight from the hospital into the restaurant and walked around our busy kitchen with her. I thought that was totally ridiculous.

    I feel you, poppies.
