Update from Doc Appt.

I had a doctor appointment on Friday at 2:45. My doctor did not like my blood pressure. It wasn't quite high enough to worry but just higher than my normal BP's had been. So she sent me to L&D to be monitored and rule out preeclampsia.

Spent 2 hours in the hospital and my BP stayed elevated but all labs were normal.

My doctor put me on modified bed rest. Have to call doctor's office first thing Monday to go in and have repeat blood pressure taken. I am starting to freak out that she is going to take blood pressure and its going to be elevated and want to deliver. Have any of you delt with high blood pressure in late 3rd tri? I'm going crazy with all the possible outcomes. Sometimes I hate google!

Anyway...hope you all are having a great weekend! Happy to see we welcomed one GPM baby this weekend!!!!

Re: Update from Doc Appt.

  • I didn't have high enough blood pressure for my doctor to worry about until my due date. But they had me set up a monitoring appointment and call if I had any concerns. I called because I had headaches and they had me go in for monitoring. They did a urine test for Pre e and that was negative. But my blood pressure was still high so they induced me.
  • Mine has been elevated the past few weeks, but it hasn't been that bad. She did have me checked for pre-e but the bloodwork came back normal. She did tell me that if my bp was higher at my appt this Thursday that we'd be discussing an induction.
Just try to take it easy and try not to worry about it, I know it's hard not to. ((Hugs))

  • Fx for lower BP on Monday! Stay away from Dr. Google; he's kind of an alarmist.

  • Yes, I was diagnosed with pregnancy related high blood pressure in 3rd tri. I was on modified bed rest, had twice weekly NSTs, and I had an induction scheduled for 39 weeks. E came on her own at 38w 4d, but I don't know if it had anything to do with my bp.

Eta: I also had to do the 24 hour urine collection and blood work to check for pre e, which all came back fine!
  • Also, E was perfectly healthy. She was s little small, which can happen with high bp in mom, but she didn't need anything extra at the hospital. I was fine too :)
  • I hope it goes down!

  • I didn't have high BP but my SIL did and they just ended up inducing her last week a couple days before her due date. Everything turned out fine and her induction went very smoothly. So I hope the same is true for you if that route has to be taken.

  • Thanks for all the replies. Making me feel a bit better. Going in for the repeat BP check at 10:20 today.

@Madeline10L - BP varied over the 2 hours of them taking it but it was in the 140's over 80's. I haven't taken them at home but DH is a CNA so I definitely could stick him on that job. : )
