I've desperately been looking for cognac boots. I'm not ready to pay Frye prices but would like something decent (leather). However my issue has been that I'm petite. I need something with shaft/circumference less than 15" at least, which is proving difficult. I look online and am left with few options. I have searched in stores without much luck. I picked up a pair at dsw but wanted opinions.
First their cognac color is on the dark side although others seem to vary on cognac color. I know Steve Madden Intyce is a darker cognac color (tried them...too big) which seems similar.
Second the height is ok at 14" but the circ is 14.5". With jeans it's not bad but without I'm not sure if they look ok (too much gaping?). They actually seem to fit ok in the calf part, but it's the very top that seems a bit wider and where I get the gaping. But I'm not finding anything with less than 14.5" circ anywhere. The only smaller boots I seem to find are the cheaper/fake leather kind.
Here's a pic with jeans.

Here's just with a skirt
From the one side it doesn't look bad
But the other side shows more gaping
Oh and it is dark in my room so here's a better pic of the color in the light

Thoughts? Look ok or not? And color wise are they still versatile enough? I want to be able to wear with black, etc.
If not? Any suggestions? I can't find anything in my price range (definitely less than $200) that has circumference less than 14.5". I found these ones below online but they are still the same height and circ as the ones above, but are lighter color wise (and cheaper). But I hate to order not knowing how they will fit. Not sure I love the buckles either.

Re: Kris & other fashionistas: boot help
So the color of the boots I have are ok or you like the Corso como link color. The ones I bought aren't Corso Como. The only other ones I can find online with the same measurements are a CC pair. They are the ones I linked at the end and are a lot lighter in color.
And yeah I swoon over the Fryes but I don't think they would work on me looking at most of the measurements!
I like the ones you have on. The Corso Como cognac is definitely more brown cognac but it does work with black.
I think I will stick with these ones. Even though there is a gap I don't feel like they are too big on me. Most if the ones I try on look ridiculous on me!
