WIJFR: The Warrior Heir (NS)

So. You can tell this book was Chima's first. Everything about it felt underdeveloped - the characters, the world, the plot. There were weird transitions, weird plot holes, and timing inconsistencies. Also, I guessed all of the plot "twists" before they were revealed. That being said, I still managed to enjoy the book. I will still continue the series. I still found myself rooting for the hero. The were moments of good writing.

The Warrior Heir is NOT comparable to the Seven Realms series. However, it is a decent read, and I forgive Chima for her noob mistakes. I'm curious to see if the next books improve - especially the one that comes out October 1st. We know what she is capable of!

  • I've heard that it wasn't as good.  I'm not sure if I'm going to read it.

Yeah, I had to go into it telling myself over and over that it would not be SR. I put it off forever. I'm still glad I read it, I think. Heh.

Do you see yourself finishing the series?

I will for sure read the next book. If that one doesn't improve, I probably won't continue. The books are really stand alone. Each one has a different MC, and are just set in the same world with some of the same characters appearing here and there. The first book was a complete story in and of itself, so at least I don't feel like I'm missing out.
